I chose to start the germination of broccoli seeds on a paper plate inside a single layer of paper towel. Of course it was important the seeds stayed damp, to not allow the paper towel to completely dry. A water misting bottle is best, especially as the plant roots emerge from the seed, heavy water spray could injure the sprouts. About 3 days after the seeds germinate, I carefully cut the paper towel around the sprouts so as to leave them in tack, and transplant to a small container of compost. Now I daily mist the sprouts and watch them grow. They receive a southern light exposure in the green house, which is heated to about 70 degrees F.
