As patient-reported outcome, the Child Oral Impacts on Daily Performances (C-OIDP) has been commonly used for assessing childrens oral health needs in order to facilitate oral health service planning. It was translated and cross-culturally adapted into Turkish in 2008. Since then, there is no study to assess its psychometric properties in Turkish child population. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties and factor structure of the Turkish version of the C-OIDP for use in Turkish primary school children. The Turkish translated version was tested on a convenience sample of primary school children aged 11 to 12 years attending two public schools in Istanbul. Data were collected by clinical examinations, face-to-face interviews and self-completed questionnaires. The internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct validity using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), criterion related validity (concurrent and discriminant) were
HEALTH bosses agreed to investigate the possibility of adding fluoride to the water supply in the north west at a meeting last week.. The board at NHS Warrington accepted a paper that asked them to request further investigation into the feasibility of the scheme.. For now, all that means is that the Strategic Health Authority, (SHA), will look into the possibility of adding the chemical.. This is not a decision on whether we support it; it is a very contentious issue and we appreciate that, said chairman, John Gartside.. The board was told at its monthly meeting that the decision lay with the SHA and not any one primary care trust.. It is only if and when the SHA decides to do it that this PCT will say whether it supports it, said Dr Keith Milsom, a public health dentist.. The dental health of the Warrington population is worse than the national average. Eleven of the 22 electoral wards have child dental health that is worse than average, he said.. By Paul O. Walker Making progress toward good health - particularly childrens health - is a good feeling. Parents of healthy children marvel at their milestones and upward trending growth charts. Providers enjoy seeing our smallest patients start out life with a solid foundation that will carry them into healthy adulthood. However, when we stumble in our ability to provide these essential building blocks, or take steps backward in the programs that help make it possible, the effects are significant and long lasting. Childrens dental health care is an area where policymakers and providers have made tremendous strides in past years, thanks to federal programs like the Childrens Health Insurance Program. Set to expire this September unless Congress votes to reauthorize its funding, CHIP has been a driving force in allowing millions of children to receive dental care since 1997, helping to reduce the number of young children with tooth decay and cavities to its lowest point in 25 years.
