Objective: This study presents the microvasculature of the horse iris, ciliary process, retina, and choroid and discusses the functional significance of the vasculature. Procedure: Seven horses were used for this study. The ocular vascular system was injected with methylmethacrylate resin via the carotid artery, and the vascular corrosion casts were observed using a scanning electron microscope. Results: The iridial vessels showed a wavy course. The ciliary process was supplied by 2 arterial routes: the iridial and ciliary arterial circles. The subjects displayed a paurangiotic retina with retinal vessels extending only a short distance around the disc. The retinal arterioles and venules ran in closely related pairs, and the capillaries formed hairpin loops. No central retinal artery was seen in the equine eyes examined. Starting from an over-connected network, it is pruning vessel stumps and spurious connections by evaluating the local geometry and the global connectivity of the graph. A new approach to the assessment of the corrosion behaviour of zinc coatings under atmospheric conditions can be achieved using gel-type electrolytes as an alternative to standard aqueous test electrolytes. Gel-type electrolytes allow minimally invasive corrosion investigations on zinc coatings. They also provide the possibility to carry out corrosion investigations onsite. By using gel-type electrolytes corrosion-relevant characteristic values such as corrosion currents and polarization resistances can be determined. It was found that alloying N was effective in increasing the resistance to SCC, while it was higher along the longitudinal direction than the transverse direction. The mold may be removed from the casting by scoring the mold and applying a force sufficient to cause the mold to fracture and break into pieces. Speaking of the Chevy engines and the rumored casting problems, I hear that its unlikely that GM would spend almost four years developing the SB2 and then have 11th-hour casting problems. One explanation from a GM source I have is that some "pilot" runs of heads went out to the teams (and in retrospect should not have) for initial fitment and mockup and these have been labeled "bad" heads. the final SB2.2 (second version) head package wasnt approved until August 97--and there have been some production "teething" problems, but nothing out of the ordinary for a first re-design. Note also that the SB2 heads were run in ARCA races almost all of last year by as many as four teams. Why didnt we hear about this casting flaw then? The ARCA runs did expose a valvetrain lifespan problem, which has been corrected, so a major casting difficulty would probably show up then, too.
