Several studies demonstrated that the use of graft material has better clinical results for the treatment of intrabony defects. The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical and radiographic efficacy of alloplast (Biphasic calcium phosphate) and demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) in treatment of periodontal intraosseous defects. A split mouth study was conducted in 20 subjects diagnosed with chronic periodontitis presenting atleast two intrabony defects in either arch. One quadrant (Site A) received alloplast (Biphasic calcium phosphate) and the contralateral defect (Site B) received DFDBA. Using melt mixing, we produced a ceramic/polymer composite with a matrix of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and a filler of 5 vol.% Ni-deposited CaCu{sub 3}Ti{sub 4}O{sub 12} core-shell ceramic particles (CCTO@Ni), and studied its prominent dielectric characteristics for the first. Its phase composition and morphology were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. After treating the composite films with various durations of a magnetic field treatment, we compared their dielectric properties. We found that the CCTO@Ni ceramic had a typical urchin-like core-shell structure, and that different durations of the magnetic field treatment produced different distributions of ceramic particles in the PVDF matrix. The size and diversity of this artistic ceramic assemblage indicate the emergence of a social tradition, rather than more ephemeral experimentation with a new material. Vela Spila ceramics offer compelling technological and stylistic comparisons with the only other evidence of a developed Palaeolithic ceramic tradition found at the sites of Pavlov I and Dolní Věstonice I, in the Czech Republic, c. 31,000-27,000 cal BP.
