The validity, efficacy and contribution of cephalometry in orthodontic treatment planning remain questionable [2]. In 2002, 90% of orthodontists in the USA routinely performed cephalometric radiographs [3]. This systematic review was performed to assess the validity and reliability of 2D lateral cephalometry used for orthodontic treatment planning as well as the errors that can occur on 2D tracing. Despite the abundant amount of articles found on lateral cephalometry (n = 968), it is surprising that the present systematic review could only identify very few studies (n = 16, 1.6%) on its validity and reliability. This finding underlines the need for the present study and is an important cross point, considering the fact that we are flooding into 3D cephalometric studies nowadays. In the last years the need to numerically define color by its coordinates in n-dimensional space has increased strongly. Colorimetric calibration is fundamental in food processing and other biological disciplines to quantitatively compare samples color during workflow with many devices. Several software programmes are available to perform standardized colorimetric procedures, but they are often too imprecise for scientific purposes. In this study, we applied the Thin-Plate Spline interpolation algorithm to calibrate colours in sRGB space (the corresponding Matlab code is reported in the Appendix). This was compared with other two approaches. The first is based on a commercial calibration system (ProfileMaker) and the second on a Partial Least Square analysis. It is the purpose of this study to establish specific cephalometric standards for a Mexican ethnic group, using the Ricketts, Steiner, Tweed and Arnett analyses. Cephalometrics revealed an underlying Class II skeletal pattern: facial convexity 15°, ANB angle 4° and lower incisor to mandibular plane angle of 106°. Aim: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the skeletal and dento-alveolar effects of the Rick-A-Nator appliance in the treatment of growing patients with skeletal Class II malocclusion due to retrusive mandible. Methods: 13 Class II growing patients with mandibular retrusion and between the ages of 9 years and 12 years were selected to be included in this study. Control group for the treated group was generated from growth data of untreated Class II subjects. Pre-treatment and post-treatment lateral cephalometric radiographs were traced and analyzed. Changes in the treated group were compared to those in the control group. Results: The mandibular length was highly significantly increased by 2.44 mm. The mandibular incisors were proclined by distance of 4.54 mm. The overjet was highly significantly reduced by 4.25 mm. The molar relation was significantly corrected by 3.62 mm.
