Friends becoming blogging friends? - Tea is for Tina
I knew nobody doing it and had no help whatsoever learning how to put one together or what to write or how to write it. I didnt even know how to start except for Googling the life out of free blog sites. Now I get asked questions and I dont want to be shady, but I feel like I did all the work and now others wont have to because they have me.. This is such a selfish and egotistical post, but I really liked the idea of having my own little hobby. I like going to events alone and meeting new people through it. Nobody in Leeds has helped me network at all, and Ive finally started meeting people through blogging, only for the same people to expect to latch on to it. And I know Im being a bitch, but I love having my own world here finally. Ive been here 5 years, and worked in a tiny office with barely any colleagues, and had few friends. Those friends havent tried to get me in with their groups or friends. In fact, they kept us completely separate and didnt even invite me on the odd night out ...

Regeneration Review by Melissa Goldberg on abLA | Blogging.la
Regeneration: Contemporary Art from China and the US is a window into the progress of contemporary art in China, but only a few of the 26 artists on view at Otisí Ben Maltz Gallery truly stand out with originality and impact.. The tradition of art making is not a new thing for China. But Chinese artists have become more verbose in the last 30 some years after the end of Maoís communist regime. The show is a survey of 48 contemporary works by artists with foundations in China, specifically Beijing, Shanghai, and Gounghzhou. The exhibition is organized by Dan Mills and Xiaoze Xieówho is also an artist in the exhibitionó and is on display at Ben Maltz through April 23. It was first shown at was Bucknellís Samek Art Gallery in Pennsylvania.. To read the rest, go to art.blogging.la.. ...

Avoiding Atrophy: My Blogging Process
And every blogger (or excuse me, ARTIST) approaches their craft in a different way. Some work in the wee hours of the morning, others in the way more fun hours of the night. Some do it as a hobby, some do it professionally, and others do it to complain about their estranged family members or to share erotic Harry Potter fan fiction or whatever. Blogging is a diverse game, yall ...
Why Libel Laws Must Change - The Quackometer Blog
Let me tell you a few stories about how I have nearly stopped blogging. Some of these stories you may know; others I have not talked about before. The events behind these stories have all hinged on Englands illiberal and antiquated approach to defamation laws. Those laws must change and here is why.. Writing a blog, surprisingly, is not without its serious risks. Hobbies like skiing, diving or playing rubgy can leave you badly injured or even killed. Blogging a weekly article on a subject of your interest can also leave you with a ruined life.. In the case of blogging, that risk comes from English libel laws that expose writers to the real danger that they may be financially ruined.. When you chose to write about a subject that inevitably questions, even tangentially, the beliefs, motives and business practices of others, then you lay yourself open to some very serious consequences - and there is only so much you can do to protect yourself.. I write about superstitious medical beliefs. I do not ...

Black-cheeked lovebirds are considered the most endangered of all the African parrot species. Avian experts advocate for captive black-cheeked lovebirds to be placed into well-managed breeding programs to ensure species survival because this species is so endangered in the wild.
About - Peanut Butter Fingers
Upon graduation, I entered the real world, working in jobs in the public relations and marketing industry before realizing my affinity for writing and accepting a job as a content team manager for a large website. After working as a writer, editor and manager for two-and-a-half years, I eventually left my job to pursue a career in freelance writing and full-time blogging. Writing blog posts for Peanut Butter Fingers every day unearthed a passion in me. What was once simply a hobby grew into a love affair with blogging and eventually a career.. My blog has changed a lot through the years, as Ive blogged about a number of moves, career changes, our engagement, wedding and three pregnancies, births and babies!. ...
Kathys Cottage: And shes back....
Its good to see a new post from you!.. So sorry about the shoulder. .Boy that must have been painful. Your grandbaby is beautiful! As for blogging, in all honesty, Ive had my blog for many years but never really kept up with it. I tried doing YouTube for a long time but the truth is on YouTube, the element there is, strange. There seem to be many people on there who like to bully others and you deal with a lot of hate comments etc. YouTube over the last few years like many other things has turned very negative. As for Instagram, I like it but I dont post much there. I like to write. I like to read. I also find that the atmosphere and the people who read, comment and write blogs seems so much more kinder. I love the blogging atmosphere and I am going to try and blog more on my own. Ive tried other social media and I always come back to my blog. I hope youll keep writing!. ReplyDelete ...
Blog Therapy, Therapy, Therapy Blog, Blogging Therapy, Therapy,..
March 5th, 2020 at 9:24 PM life has been very difficult for me for quite some time now mentally. Ive been totally insecure on how I look and who I am which has brought me to chronic depression. During my days in my head I say I hate myself and feel like anything I have to say has no worth. I know those are negative thoughts and tell myself otherwise but simply dont believe it and move on with my overwhelming school schedule.Ive lacked motivation to succeed in school and been stopped caring what my grades look like that used to matter to me. Ive began to lack motivation to pursue the things I want in life with short and long term goals and the person I want to become. Im 17 with no source of income other than my parents and no longer put time towards how I should but desperately put it to temporary highs and pleasures. Ive realized I have been apathetic for the past couple of years with my depression but seem to act like any of that isnt a part of me in society and my self image from fear ...

It is generally the case that couples with thriving, strong relationships have well-developed emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence describes a persons ability to be aware of, control, and express emotions in a healthy manner. In other words, it is the capacity to handle relationships appropriately and empathetically. In a partnership, emotional intelligence translates into the ability to be in touch with your own emotions as well as those of your partner.. A persons capacity for empathy and ability to talk about emotions in a healthy and loving way are both components of emotional intelligence. In a partnership or marriage, emotional intelligence may be seen in many areas. It is sustained over the course of a lifetime and is vital for making love last.. The following are eight key areas where emotionally intelligent couples practice loving well.. 1. Friendship. At the core of a good relationship is friendship. Tips for Becoming a Full-Time Blogger - Garden Betty
Im not sure how it happened, but since my series of biz tips last November during National Career Development Week, I went from a serious blogger earning part-time income from my posts to a professional blogger making a living from writing about my life.. Saying that out loud is something I cant even convince my own mother is true. Blogs, for her, are still a new world - and a strange one at that for a career. And honestly, even I am baffled by this transition. Blogging was (and still is) a hobby for me, and Im so thankful that its reached a point where it can support my lifestyle too.. I dont make millions from my blog, though there are certainly superstar bloggers out there who pull in an impressive income without celebrity status. I dont have a staff or even an intern, and I still prefer to produce my own content without contributors or guest bloggers. In a way, I feel that makes the idea of blogging for a living more approachable for most people.. So how do you get to that pivotal ...
MoneyLaw: Word, ugh. What is it good for?
We bloggers have additional reason to hate Word. Blog posts or (God forbid) key snippets of HTML or Javascript used to enhance blog posts and templates, if composed or filtered through Microsoft Word, will acquire all sorts of deviant code. It looks vaguely like [o:p] - I dare not render it precisely, even by way of demonstration, because of this five-character strings potential to wreak technological havoc. If youre lucky, the Word-contaminated post wont render in your blogging platforms preview function, and you know better than to mash the publish button. If youre unlucky, it looks good enough on your screen, and your decision to publish then destroys a bunch of RSS feeds and XML scripts that power other peoples blogs and websites ...

Blog Info Archive - 2:48AM - Everything Kuwait
So this past Friday (February 19th) was my blogs 11 year anniversary. I published my first post here back in February 19th 2005, a really odd post which I find hilarious now since my blog has become what it is today. If I had known my blog would end up here I would have probably posted something a bit less… crude. But, what I just realized a few moments ago is that this February also marks the 13th anniversary of my first post on my first blog ever. Back in 2003 me and a few friends launch a blog called Qhate and my first post there was published on February 6th, 2003. At that time we were the first blog based in Kuwait and unlike my early posts on 248AM, I actually enjoy reading my old stuff on Qhate. For those of you who dont know, Qhate started off as a war blog in which we were posting about life in Kuwait during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. So reading through my old posts there just takes me back in time during the volatile period. If youve never gone through some of the posts there you ...

Hi I read your blog regularly. This post was a complete shock.Seems like you are addicted to blogging and you feel bad if you dont visit all blogs or dont reply to every comment. But disabling comments and the long post on how little time you have was like blaming your readers for your addiction ;)Nice to see you have enabled comments again. You can reply only queries on your recipes and acc to me no need to reply each and every one who says what a good post you have each wednesday. Most of the time they just write it without meaning much.I was wondering how u come up with so many recipes in each post.Relax since blogging isnt your job its just a hobby. It shouldnt be taxing for you.Just my 2 cents.I admired your enthu but this post looks like a dead end where you need to take it slow.Have fun doing things u like and do post once in a while as they make a interesting read for us. ...

Helminthic therapy by Jasper Lawrence - Probiotic relief from chronic inflammation, allergy and autoimmunity
Welcome to my site, and the story it tells.. I am sorry it is a little messy just now. It was originally a simple WordPress driven blogging site for me, Jasper Lawrence to write on the subject of helminthic therapy and related topics.. Because it is not my primary site for conducting the business of helminthic therapy I have started using it as a test bed for various ideas and technologies I hope to use to improve the conduct of my business.. So I am using it now to construct a Woocommerce site to develop ideas and methods for selling helminthic therapy and related products and services using Bitcoins as a payment method, and to develop my experience and knowledge around the use of the open source payment gateway for processing Bitcoin payments BTCPay Server.. You can still find my blog posts on the page called Blog Posts.. For now you cannot use this site to purchase any of my services, for that you need to go here.. Thanks for visiting my site and all the best.. ...
xymphora: Garry Trudeau on blogging
Garry Trudeau, who does the Doonesbury cartoon, takes a cheap shot at bloggers. It is fairly obvious that the journalist establishment is becoming threatened by the fear of competition which challenges them on the one issue they cant deal with, the truth. Trudeau is married to Jane Pauley, an expert at the trivial nonsense that now passes for journalism. Her most recent show was so bad that nobody watched it and it was cancelled. People now have options, and are no longer prepared to put up with watching distracting irrelevancies which are used to hide the truth. Trudeau, whose cartoon used to be important, has taken on the nice-but-stupid persona of his wife, and Doonesbury is now a sad shadow of what it was twenty years ago. It is curious that Trudeau insinuates that bloggers are somehow mentally ill, when Pauley herself boasts of being completely insane. You have to wonder if Trudeau was nagged into this cartoon and is taking his subtle revenge ...

Blogging Life: July 2012
So Ive been in this pit, worrying and trying to figure out if I should continue to blog about our journey through cancer and chemo or if enough is enough already, until last night when Daves Nana called to check on him. He had his fifth round of chemo on Monday (most of you didnt know because I didnt tell). We talked for a few minutes and she gave me the perspective I needed to resolve my wallowing two-fold. First, she told me, I asked the kids [the ones who live near her] if you had posted anything on the Internet or whatever you do, but they said you hadnt. Nana is 90, if youll remember - it was her birthday party we missed the day after Dave had surgery. Even she is looking to the Internet for information, though she doesnt have a computer of her own. Then, when I reluctantly told her that Dave wasnt home because he was playing golf (yes, two days after chemo), she responded with laughter and, Thats wonderful! That made my day that even though he feels bad hes playing golf ...
Simple Lovely: Bloggers Favorites - SF Girl by the Bay (Victoria)
Blogging -- I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to call this my job. It started out as a hobby, but I found that it perfectly combined my three loves: writing, design and photography. It feels like a perfect fit for me and I love doing it, and I love being a part of the design blogging community - it is incredibly supportive and I have made some amazing friends through it. The blog is so much fun to do, so if someone gets some kind of inspiration out of it, it makes it all the more rewarding ...
The Alchemy of Loss: Blogging Backlash
Its hard sometimes to know how much to share on this blog. Its a fine line between writing about issues that are relevant to people who are grieving and giving away too much about my private life and that of my family. But I wrote a book. In it, I felt it necessary to be as completely honest about difficult things, things we dont like to talk about, in order for that book to be authentic, to help others going through what I went through. I know from emails that I have received from grieving people that my honesty has been the most important aspect of my book. My honesty is what has helped others through their own difficult times ...

netherlands Archives - Coffee & Insulin
Something funny has happened both times Ive moved abroad: I become way more active online, especially with social media. Partly it has to do with the fact that Im visiting a lot of really cool places that I want to share. But even more than that, its for myself… it is the easiest way to feel like Im still connected to everyone at home. I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook which is 90% hate and 10% appreciation for Facebook Messenger because that is how I often communicate overseas. Social media makes me feel like Im still keeping in touch with people, even when I barely am. It makes me feel involved, even when Im a billion miles away.. Blogging does too, but it takes more time and thoughtfulness, and recently, Ive been taking that time and doing other things with it. Ive been going on more micro-adventures and meeting new people……..and watching a lot of Game of Thrones……. (I started it two weeks ago and Im on season 5, so.) Not blogging felt good for a few weeks. Monday Geology Picture(s): Bogenfels Rock Arch, Sperrgebiet, Namibia - Georneys - AGU Blogosphere
My apologies that Ive been very quiet here on Georneys recently. My travel and work schedule were extremely hectic during the past month… plus I was working on a couple of scientific papers related to my PhD thesis research. However, life is a bit calmer now, so hopefully Ill catch up on some blogging soon! I want to share some more pictures from my trip to Australia, amongst other things.. Ill start with a few pictures from my recent trip to Namibia. Recently, I had the good fortune to spend a couple of weeks in the Sperrgebiet in Namibia doing some fieldwork on behalf of De Beers. I do not blog about my industry work here on Georneys (unless the work is published and thus in the open domain), so I cant share the details of my trip. However, I can share a few pictures of some of the tourist attractions that I saw during my field work.. Sperrgebiet means Prohibited Area in German (the Germans colonized Namibia, so some German words and town names are still found in the country). The ...

For the occasion, I am bringing Mini Blackberry Hazelnut Meringue Cakes. I took hazelnut meringue cookies - Did you know Bobs Red Mill now makes Hazelnut Flour? Gluten Free Raleigh: Bloggers Needed

Rather than shut this blog down because I cannot pay it the attention is deserves, Ive decided to take this step. Climate change risk perceptions of audiences in the climate change blogosphere - WUR
The Climate Change Risk Perception Model (CCRPM, Van der Linden, 2015) has been used to characterize public risk perceptions; however, little is known about the models explanatory power in other (online) contexts. In this study, we extend the model and investigate the risk perceptions of a unique audience: The polarized climate change blogosphere. In total, our model explained 84% of the variance in risk perceptions by integrating socio-demographic characteristics, cognitive factors, experiential processes, socio-cultural influences, and an additional dimension: Trust in scientists and blogs. Although trust and the scientific consensus are useful additions to the model, affect remains the most important predictor of climate change risk perceptions. Surprisingly, the relative importance of social norms and value orientations is minimal. Implications for risk and science communication are discussed.. ...

Is The Beer Blog Dead? And Did The Beer News Aggregator Kill It? - BeerScribe
Ive just received the first email from the new BeerPulse service that Adam Nason is putting together and it sort of captures the new world of the online blogosphere in my mind, one in which original content is largely aggregated from other sources, including mainstream media. It also immediately raised to mind a few issues I hadnt previously considered.. Perhaps it is my own self-selection, but it seems (and I am largely without empirical proof on this one) that the cause of beer blogging has slowed considerably in the last year or two. Im not sure whether youd see this reflected in the attendance logs for the Beer Bloggers Conference, but that zealous crowd might not be particularly reflective of the larger amateur beer writing community. You can, however, observe the creeping inclusion of corporate beer bloggers into the conferences attendance ranks, so that skews attendance upwards.. The Sessions beer writing project turned 5 in March, having now endured 64 sessions (I have somehow ...

You can, however, observe the creeping inclusion of corporate beer bloggers into the conferences attendance ranks, so that skews attendance upwards.. The Sessions beer writing project turned 5 in March, having now endured 64 sessions (I have somehow ...
Blogging in Bulgaria: Snails Pace
In all the cities and towns internet speed is very good, wi-fi is offered in a lot of places and life goes on at a rather hurried pace. Here things are slightly different. Our internet currently runs at less than dial-up speed and thats on a good day. Were limited on options as to how we connect to the internet and have to use a dongle which to be frank is absolutely pants! We curently use a M-tel homebox which is supposed to supply our internet and home phone service via wireless and works very much like a mobile phone. Of course that is when it wants to work - the internet is usually ok (apart from being slow) but does get affected by the weather, the phone part rarely works and people get tired of trying to ring us and to be honest I understand why. We also have pre-paid mobile phones with the same company and they work great if you want to stand in the middle of the field with one leg in the air, shouting like a lunatic because the person calling cant hear you and freezing your backside ...

Romancing the Blog - Whats new the in world of romance writing
Im coming up on my sixth year of blogging, and I still enjoy my little hobby today, just as much as I did when I started six years ago. Possibly even more, because through blogging Ive had the pleasure to meet so many amazing, intelligent and thoughtful women who share some of the same interests as I do. The big one, of course, being reading romance novels. And talking about romance novels. Going on and on and on about romance novels.. The first blogger I met, live and in person, was Rosie, who happens to live in roughly the same geographic area that I do. We met at a local used bookstore, did some shopping, then had a nice, long lunch where we discussed, what else?, romance novels. Weve spent a fair amount of time together in person since then. Weve had countless chats. But she did say something to me once that has really gotten stuck in my head….. She called me an idiot savant of romance novels.. Im one of those people, that once I read a book, I can at least recall some details about ...

Journal of Medical Internet Research - Social Media Use in the United States: Implications for Health Communication
Background: Given the rapid changes in the communication landscape brought about by participative Internet use and social media, it is important to develop a better understanding of these technologies and their impact on health communication. The first step in this effort is to identify the characteristics of current social media users. Up-to-date reporting of current social media use will help monitor the growth of social media and inform health promotion/communication efforts aiming to effectively utilize social media. Objective: The purpose of the study is to identify the sociodemographic and health-related factors associated with current adult social media users in the United States. Methods: Data came from the 2007 iteration of the Health Information National Trends Study (HINTS, N = 7674). HINTS is a nationally representative cross-sectional survey on health-related communication trends and practices. Survey respondents who reported having accessed the Internet (N = 5078) were asked whether,
Friday Sprog Blogging: questions. - Adventures in Ethics and Science
Today, the Free-Ride offspring have lots of questions. Maybe science can answer some of them.. Younger offspring: Why do the stars shine so bright?. Elder offspring: Why do snails come out on rainy days?. Younger offspring: Why does food taste so good?. Younger offspring: Why do humans think their voices are different than when you record your voice?. Elder offspring: Why does ice cream melt on Pluto?. Dr. Free-Ride: How did ice cream get on Pluto?. Younger offspring: Has anyone lived on Jupiter?. Dr. Free-Ride: I think I know the answer to that question, at least if anyone means terrestrial life forms like humans.. Younger offspring: I meant aliens. There might be an alien.. Dr. Free-Ride: Hmm. I think my question would be what kind of life form would you have to be for life on Jupiter to be plausible? Younger offspring: You have to bring your own water and a toilet!. Dr. Free-Ride: Well, maybe youd be a life form who didnt need water, who needed some other substance instead.. Younger ...

All Journalism Is Tech Journalism Now - TechCrunch
I am about to commit an act of meta-journalism. Im sorry. I hate meta-journalism. I unfollowed GigaOms Mathew Ingram (a fine writer) on Twitter some time ago because I could not muster any more interest in articles about articles and blog posts about blogging. I believe that journalists (like people in most professions) vastly overestimate their own importance, significance, and interestingness.
But I suppose if Im going to go meta, an end-of-the-year post seems an appropriate venue; and for once I have something both meta and relevant to talk about.

The Dwarf - Pär Lagerkvist - Farm Lane Books Blog
Pär Lagerkvist won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1951. Translated from the Swedish by Alexandra Dick. Regular readers of my blog may remember the wonderful post, Recommendations from a non-blogger, written by Heidi. In the post Heidi recommended The Dwarf by Pär Lagerkvist, which I have never seen mentioned in the blogging world, so was keen to give it a try.. The Dwarf is set in an Italian City during the Renaissance. The central character is just 26 inches high and is a servant to the Prince. The story follows them as they are drawn in to war and have to deal with death, disease and betrayal.. The Dwarf is probably the most miserable, bitter and twisted character I have ever read about. He seems to be dissatisfied with every aspect of his life - his anger bubbling through onto every page.. It is my fate that I hate my own people. My race is detestable to me. But I hate myself too. I eat my own splenetic flesh. I drink my own poisoned blood.. This made it very different from any other ...
Qatars Al Jazeera Twitter Account Back After Suspension | Bruneis No.1 News Website
1809 views. MIDDLE EAST. The Arabic-language account of Al Jazeera has been restored on Twitter after being suspended due to what the network called an organised campaign.. The account, with just under 12 million followers, was suspended for an unspecified reason early on Saturday.. Al Jazeera is the flagship broadcaster for Qatar, which is under pressure from its Gulf neighbours. They accuse the emirate of links to terror groups.. The account was restored by early afternoon Qatar time.. Twitters rules state that an account can be suspended for three main reasons: because it is posting spam, because it has been hacked or compromised, or because it engages in abusive behaviour, like sending threats to others or impersonating other accounts.. It is highly unusual for an account with as many followers, belonging to a national broadcaster, to be suspended.. A senior editor on the website wrote that there had been an on going storm of mass reporting of the account - of Twitter receiving ...

Social Media Usage During Live Sport Consumption: Generation Gap and Gender Differences Among Season Ticket Holders in:...
This study sought to examine season ticket holders usage of social networking sites during live sport consumption. Informed by uses and gratifications theory, the study examined three types of social media use by fans-Twitter/Facebook posting, Instagram/Snapchat posting, and mobile app use-during a live game. Survey data of 400 season ticket holders of a professional National Basketball Association team were analyzed. Regression results showed that age was a significant predictor of the fans in-game social media use in terms of Instagram/Snapchat posting and mobile app use, whereas gender was a significant predictor of their Twitter/Facebook posting behavior. Moreover, the study showed a mixed result for the predicted moderating effect of the season ticket holders tenure on the predicted relationships between the two personal characteristics (age and gender) and the three types of social media use. Theoretical and practical implications of the study for sports marketing management are ...

Educational Technologies: Challenges, Applications and Learning Outcomes
Educational technology has progressed substantially from the days when any new technology that potentially might be used in education immediately attracted supporters advocating its use. Today, the critical factor in the uptake of technology is the manner in which it interacts with human cognitive, motivational, social and emotional systems. Educational Technologies: Challenges, Applications and Learning Outcomes, is edited by Lijia Lin and Bob Atkinson, both expert in the area of educational psychology. It collects the work of global leaders concerned with the interaction between human attributes and educational technology. The result is a book wide in its scope and deep in its analyses. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone with an interest in this important, rapidly expanding field. - John Sweller, Emeritus Professor of Educational Psychology, School of Education, University of New South Wales, Australia ...

Maddox award for standing up for science: Haters gonna hate.. https://mobile.twitter.com/lecanardnoir/status/272713224170897410. Andy Lewis recently tweeted this on the subject of patient advocacy of myalgic encephalomyelitis (and Melanie endorsed it) . The tweet thread referred to one noodlemazs blog, where the awarding of the Maddox prize to controversial ME researcher Simon Wessely, for for Standing up for Science, had been discussed.. http://noodlemaz.wordpress.com/2012/11/07/john-maddox-prize-2012/. The blog contains dozens of entries, almost entirely from patients or advocates decrying the award of this prize to Wessely (the awarding of which noodlemaz defends, instead boasting of the record number of entries to her blog the controversy has generated). These are the people Lewis is calling haters. One story, of a young woman called Sophia Wilson , described by her mother, is particularly poignant (she lived, and died at just 22 from the disease, just up the road from me in ...

While at lunch today I saw an entrepreneur who reached out to me awhile back. He was cool about the lack of follow-up, but I hate that so many messages fall through the cracks nowadays. My New Years resolution to clear my inbox monthly has been a complete washout.. I currently have over 11,000 emails in my inbox - just from this year. Ive driven most phone messages to email and I use RSS-to-email for my subscriptions. That allows me to focus on one inbox, but Facebook messages are starting to become a separate inbox that also needs to merge. You can see from my post dates that its not like blogging is getting in the way of inbox triage. I dont have any great solutions and plenty of others I respect have just declared inbox bankruptcy. Im not there yet…. If youve reached out to me and didnt hear back, lets try again. My apologies. Also, if you have inbox-overload ideas that have worked for you, Im all ears…. UPDATE, 09-11-07: While driving this morning I realized that my inbox ...

Blogs are emerging as sources of vital information from breaking news, politics, analysis and commentaries to personal diaries and gossip. Blogs do not come without risks to hate speech propagation due to its real time nature, anonymity and freedom of speech to both the blogger and the subscriber. This study investigated hate speech control for peace building in Kenyan social media. A case of Kenyan bloggers. It was based on three objectives hate speech monitoring and control tools, hate speech sensitization and hate speech laws. The studies theoretical framework was guided byJeremy Waldons systematic framework for legal regulation of hate speech. First, he argues that the harm associated with hate speech has ...

Rosalind Adam is Writing Again: Blog or newspaper article... Whats the difference?
It could be because the piece was never intended to be a newspaper article. I know that this blog can be read by anyone in the word but its my blog and I can choose to talk about whatever I wish. When I received a copy of the paper I scrutinised the article for any social gaffe or misdemeanour that I may have committed. Ive yet to find out if the mother of the boy who wanted to see a close up of the goal during his first trip to live football has recognised herself. It may be that she doesnt mind being written about. Mum expressed surprise at being discussed in her local paper even though she had no objections to being mentioned in my blog. Maybe weve lulled ourselves into a false sense of security. I mean, Im only talking to myself here and you lot dont really exist... do you?. ...
The Great Outer Space: Astronaut Joe Acaba - Just another NASA Blogs Sites site
Expedition 31 crew members pose for a photo in the Unity node of the International Space Station. Pictured on the front row are Commander Oleg Kononenko (center), Andre Kuipers (right) and Don Pettit, both flight engineers. In the back row (from left) are Flight Engineers Joe Acaba, Gennady Padalka and Sergei Revin.. It is hard to believe how quickly the time has gone by. My lack of blogging is directly proportional to how busy things have been. As I write this, I am one of the three people on the ISS and the only American. It is pretty cool. The other three members of Expedition 31 went home last Sunday morning with an undocking around 4 am. It was sad to see them go. Anytime you experience a unique situation with someone, a certain bond is forged. It was the same with the friends I made as a Peace Corps Volunteer or crew members on my Space Shuttle flight (STS-119). I am sure you have friends like that. I will forever be grateful to Don, Andre and Oleg for the way we were received when we ...

What Celebrities, World Figures, and People in Politics and the Media Tell Us about Single Life - Bella DePaulo
A reporter just asked me about celebrities and other people in the news. Do they have anything important to tell us about single life? I realized that over the years, I have often used the words and deeds of public figures as jumping-off points for analyses of the place of marriage and single life in contemporary society.. Below is a collection of links to relevant blog posts, starting with celebrities in the traditional sense, then moving on to world figures, then people in politics, and finally, people in the media.. This is the latest addition to my collections of blog posts and other writings, organized by topic. If there is something about single life that youd like to read more about, you can probably find a set of links to relevant discussions there. I try to continue to update the collections so you may find some new articles if you come back later.. An opening essay: Celebrities: should we shun them, ignore them, or adore them?. ...
The Gray Report: Grocery store Chardonnay reviewed in the years best wine blog post
RJ: I think on hiatus, Ive been trying to figure out, I really enjoy writing about wine. It does take a whole lot of time the way I do it. I was trying to think of ways to be more relevant. I have had a lot of requests over the years for recommendations for grocery store Chardonnay. It is really a wine for daily life. It seemed to me I might be doing a service by letting people know what are the better labels. I remembered back to when I got introduced to wine. I would read wine columns, but the only place I knew to buy wine was the grocery store. Part of me hoped the revolution in Chardonnay might be reflected at the grocery store Chardonnay level. I didnt find that to be the case ...
