Uncorrected refractive error is the leading cause of visual impairment; 48.9% globally and 62.9% in South Asia (Bhutan is part of this region) as estimated by the Vision Loss Expert Group (VLEG). Recent studies document a wide global variation in the prevalence of refractive error and predict that without control interventions the prevalence of myopia will significantly increase globally, affecting nearly 5 billion people by 2050. This cross-sectional survey assessed local peoples knowledge, attitude, practice, and economic benefits of P. polyphylla in Mongar Gewog, Bhutan. Face-to-face interviews using semi-structured questionnaires were conducted to collect data from 200 households selected via exponential non-discriminative snowball sampling technique in early 2020. The results showed that people are aware of the medical and commercial values of P. polyphylla. They are also aware of the declining population of P. polyphylla due to unsustainable harvesting. The respondents have high positive attitude towards conservation of the plant in their locality. However, their knowledge and attitude did not support their practice and belief. Background: As an important marker for health equity and access, under-five mortality (UFM) is a primary measure for socioeconomic development. The importance of reducing UFM has been further emphasized in an ambitious target under Sustainable Development Goals. The factors influencing UFM are not adequately understood in Bhutan. Methods: The most recent dataset of the Bhutan National Health Survey (BNHS) 2012 was used in this study. Multiple logistic regression analysis using a backwards elimination approach was performed to identify significant factors influencing UFM. All statistical analyses were adjusted for the complex study design due to the multistage stratified cluster sampling used in BNHS. Results: Bhutans UFM rate was 37 per 1000 live births. The weighted mean age of the children was 7.3 years (SD: 1.53; range: 3-12). Bhutan is a small Himalayan country experiencing vast changes as its traditional, Buddhist, collectivist culture meets Westernized culture in the process of globalization. The significant differences in culture and the idealization of the West has led to an increase in mental health issues in Bhutan, especially among the youth population. The government has recognized this and supports the growth of mental health professions. Currently, there are few mental health workers in Bhutan, but they have recently initiated a Bachelors-level counselor training program and have provided brief training to teacher counselors in schools to better address the rising problems. However, there is no information about how to internationalize the counseling profession to fit Bhutanese culture, and specifically to be most beneficial for clients. In 2010, we investigated anthrax outbreak in Bhutan. A total of 43 domestic animals died, and cutaneous anthrax developed in 9 persons, and 1 died. Introduction: Intraosseous lipoma is a very rare neoplasm accounting for , 0.1 % of primary bone tumors. Pain is the leading symptom in majority of the reported cases but it can be asymptomatic. There is slight male predominance in occurrence of this lesion. The plain radiological findings are not specific and requires differential diagnosis. The lesion is mostly diagnosed by histopathological examination.. Case report: A 31-year-old male presented with localized pain around the medial aspect of right ankle joint for one week. Examination revealed mild tenderness over the distal part of the right tibia over the medial aspect. Plain radiograph of the right leg showed well-defined expansile osteolytic lesion with sclerotic rim and calcified matrix at metaphysis of distal tibia. MRI showed enhancing T1-weighted hypo intense and T2-weighted hyperintense lesion. The long pupal diapause duration of this fly is a major bottleneck for artificial rearing and underlying mechanisms remain unknown. Genetic information on B. minax transcriptome and gene expression profiles are needed to understand its pupal diapause. High-throughput RNA-seq technology was used to characterize the B. minax transcriptome and to identify differentially expressed genes during pupal diapause development. A total number of 52,519,948 reads were generated and assembled into 47,217 unigenes. 26,843 unigenes matched to proteins in the NCBI database using the BLAST search.
