A personal knowledge base (PKB) is an electronic tool used to express, capture, and later retrieve the personal knowledge of an individual. It differs from a traditional database in that it contains subjective material particular to the owner, that others may not agree with nor care about. Importantly, a PKB consists primarily of knowledge, rather than information; in other words, it is not a collection of documents or other sources an individual has encountered, but rather an expression of the distilled knowledge the owner has extracted from those sources.[1][2] The term personal knowledge base was mentioned as early as the 1980s,[3][4][5][6] but the term came to prominence when it was described at length in publications by computer scientist Stephen Davies and colleagues,[1][2] who compared PKBs on a number of different dimensions, the most important of which is the data model that each PKB uses to organize knowledge.[1]:18 Davies and colleagues examined three aspects of the data models of ...
AIMS: To assess the efficacy of a bacteriology service in respect of the time interval between collection of specimen and receipt of final report using the number and type of incoming telephone enquiries as a proxy measure. METHODS: For three months, all incoming telephone enquiries regarding the results of bacteriology specimens were monitored. Specimen type, date of sampling, the senders location and the reason for making the telephone enquiry were recorded. RESULTS: The number of telephone enquiries made during the study was 1170, about 5% of the total number of samples received. Most enquiries related to results of urine cultures. These accounted for 33.9% of the calls, but only 5% of the total number of urines cultured. Enquiries relating to blood cultures were the next largest group accounting for 14.9% of calls, but 11% of the blood cultures received resulted in a telephone enquiry. The most frequent reason for making the telephone call was that the sender had not received the final ...

AIM--To develop an internal quality assessment (IQA) scheme in a clinical bacteriology laboratory. METHODS--Over 24 months, 1230 diagnostic specimens, representing 0.42% of laboratory workload, were anonymised and resubmitted for analysis. Six hundred and twenty one (48.7%) of these gave positive culture results; 44 fecal and upper respiratory specimens were "spiked" (artificially inoculated) to increase the proportion of positive samples. RESULTS--Discrepancies between IQA and clinical sample results occurred in 188 cases (14.8%): 76.6% of these were in culture results, 13.3% in microscopy performance, and 10.1% in clerical recording. The culture discrepancy rate for each positive sample was lowest for wound (17.5%) and urine (18.1%) specimens, and highest for faeces (34.9%) and upper respiratory (37.7%) samples. Discrepancies in several areas responded to staff training and improvement in technical methods. CONCLUSIONS--An IQA programme of this type assesses the reproducibility of tests within ...

George Buchanan (1827-1906) was the first Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University, occupying the chair from 1874 to 1900. Buchanan was the son of the anatomist and University alumnus Moses Buchanan. He studied at the University, graduating MA in 1846, and at the University of St Andrews, graduating MD in 1849. During the Crimean War, Buchanan served as a Civil Surgeon with the British Army. In 1860 he was appointed Professor of Anatomy at Andersons College and in August that year he was appointed visiting surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in preference to the other candidate for the position, Joseph Lister. He held the infirmary appointment until 1868, and from 1870 to 1874.. After his appointment to the University chair in 1874, Buchanan became visiting surgeon at the new Glasgow Western Infirmary. He was short in stature and is said to have operated while standing on a a section of tree trunk, which became known to his students as "Buchanans Cheese". He was a pioneer of facial ...

1Co 4:4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.. Used: Eph 3:19 "and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God." That seems to contrast the kind of knowledge known from the heart and from experiencing God with general knowledge, including book learning.. The terms used in the NT that deal with knowing Christ are terms that relate to first hand personal knowledge, knowledge-by-acquaintance. The term Ginosko, used throughout 1 John, implies an intimate experiential level of personal knowledge. 1Jo 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1Jo 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1Jo 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. ...

The purpose of clinical laboratory procedures is to provide the clinician doing diagnostic work with specific information needed to round out his picture of the disorders he has observed in the patient. Clinical bacteriology can contribute its part by supplying data about the microscopic life involved and the susceptibility of such life to particular drugs. To identify bacterial growth, you must take certain steps that will enable you, through a process of elimination, to choose the microscopic form that fits the findings you have obtained. Steps that are often essential include:. ...
Below is the text of an article appearing in the Highlands Newspaper and the Highlander the week before Labor Day.. Everyone wants to stop aging or at least, prevent the visible signs of aging. Although there are no miracle creams or magic drugs that will stop the bodys internal aging process, living a healthy "optimal" lifestyle can limit or slow the inevitable," said Highlands-Cashiers Hospitals Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Robert Buchanan.. Earlier this month, Dr. Buchanan presented "Turning Back the Clock - Anti-Aging Secrets" to nearly 50 community residents, providing education and tools to live a healthy and long life.. "Proper medical care and body modification are proven strategies that can improve and extend our life, improve our looks or both," said Dr. Buchanan. "Most importantly, diet, regular exercise, stress control and the avoidance of negative influences can reduce and sometimes eliminate the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and ...

Lying Freely, Ruth Buchanan. In her itinerant project Lying Freely, that has evolved in various locations since June 2009, Ruth Buchanan probes questions around the tension between private and public spheres by practicing a method that might be named after the project title, Lying Freely. This has involved Buchanan weaving stories by and about the public personas of three female writers Janet Frame, Virginia Woolf and Agatha Christie into her own speculative writings. The writing becomes scripts for manoeuvring through spaces of systemization and behavioural codification, such as an archive (The Hocken Collection), a hotel (Old Swan Hotel), a library (The British Library). These spaces, each associated with one of the authors, were reconfigured in a haptic choreography performed for and within different locations that hosted the project-a monumental house, a theatre, a gallery. We cannot be timid or formulaic. If we do what weve been doing in government, we will get more of the same. These times require leaders with solid financial skills, a willingness to be bold and the creativity to shape and select the right innovations," Buchanan wrote in a letter e-mailed to to friends and supporters and posted on her campaign Web site. "Those are the qualities you told me were right for the times last November when you sent me to Sacramento. I am grateful for your support. Now, I have a rare chance to shape our nations future in ways we hadnt anticipated.". Buchanan has been eyeing the race since Tauschers nomination last month; her formal declaration of candidacy comes one day after that of Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, who has shifted his ambitions from the 2010 gubernatorial race to CD-10. Both have thrown their hats into the ring after state Sen. Many notable and significant contributions to bacteriology and related subjects have been made since the last edition of this book. Therefore, thorough revision, much rewriting and the introduction of much new material has been necessary. The present moment is a transitional one in bacteriology, it is becoming a new science in many ways, and it is not possible at the present time to make safe predictions as to the future. This book seems to have lagged behind somewhat in the new developments in the field of bacteriology. There is very little about bacterial dissociation in this work-in fact this term ...

I have been motivated to create these pages because of running across web pages that purport to provide answers to peoples questions about animals, evolution and biology generally. While some of the information available on the web is reasonably accurate, I have found that most of it is misleading or downright erroneous. The answers are usually written by people who, although good-intentioned, are mostly ignorant about the topics they address. In any case, the information is nearly always cobbled together from secondary and tertiary sources of information-or worse-rather than direct knowledge of the science or the primary literature on the topic. Even with clear, precise inclusion criteria, elements of subjectivity and potential for human error in study selection still exist. For example, inclusion judgments may be influenced by personal knowledge and understanding of the clinical area or study design (or lack thereof).. The study selection process is typically done in two stages; the first stage involves a preliminary assessment of only the titles and abstracts of the search results. The purpose of this step is to eliminate efficiently all obviously ineligible publications. The second stage involves a careful review of the full-text publications.. Dual review--having two reviewers independently assess citations for inclusion--is one method of reducing the risk of biased decisions on study inclusion, as is recommended in the Institute of Medicines "What works in healthcare: standards for systematic reviews."36 Some form of dual review should be done at each stage to reduce the potential for random errors and bias. Reviewers compare ...
But heres one of the problems with this legislation: People will make decisions about their insurance levels based on genetic test results. So the insurers wont be able to discriminate. But the insurees will discriminate. The ones most likely to get sick will buy more insurance and the ones least likely to get sick will buy less.. The personal use of knowledge about health conditions already influences some people to take jobs which offer better health benefits. Greater knowledge of genetic risk for disease will motivate more higher risk people to apply for jobs at companies with the best health and medical benefits. But knowledge of genetic risks is less a problem for insurance received as a condition of employment. Better paid employees are going to continue to get health insurance as a fringe benefit. Individually purchased health insurance will be more influenced by personal knowledge of genetically based health risks.. Health costs aside, I think there are a lot of legitimate reasons for ...

The miscarriage of justice was the arrest and prosecution of the six officers for political reasons. As noted above, Grey was a career criminal who had done this sort of thing before. If they couldnt convict the driver of the van, they arent likely to convict any of the other officers, most of whom played minimal parts in the saga. One that will be interesting is that the high ranking Sherriffs officer who swore out the arrest warrants admitted today that he had no real knowledge of the case when he did so (despite having to swear to personal knowledge, which is why officers of his rank almost never do such) based on assertions by the prosecutors office. Making this more interesting, the defense in at least one of these cases tried to get some of the prosecutors investigators on the stand. Their request was denied, as it usually would be. But, it turns out they performed almost the entirety of the investigation, which means that there is a good chance that they will have to testify in ...
Patient access to program - The local pharmacy has the most complete record of a patients medications, regardless of the method of payment, including prescription medications, nonprescription medications, prescription medications that cost less than the copayment, and medications that are not covered by a benefit program. In addition, the local pharmacy has personal knowledge regarding patients (e.g., previous drug-related problems) learned through consultation with patients. Therefore, in the model program, a patient brings all prescriptions to a single local pharmacy. The pharmacists at this pharmacy assume the responsibility for the provision of all medications and related services and monitoring. This arrangement does not preclude the participation of a compounding or other specialty pharmacy, or the provision of medications through the mail; however, such arrangements must be coordinated by the local pharmacy of record. The program will also include situations when it becomes necessary to ...
With a hands-on approach, Barbara Derrick inspires a new, challenging, ultimately fruitful method for ones progress in becoming whole and Christian - Barbara Derricks Your Spiritual Growth Handbook (published by iUniverse) new book contains a five week plan that is a hands-on approach that allows the reader to record his or her feeling and actions in problem areas. These problem areas evolve into strengths that ultimately become the Spiritual Growth readers are seeking.. A step-by-step approach, guided by a minister/therapist that combines modern psychological insights and Christian thought, this book encourages seeing ones challenges as opportunities for Spiritual Growth. It lets readers personal relationship with God attain a clearer, less "burdensome," dimension - paradoxically, as personal knowledge in this field grows, the load gets lighter - a key that is the essence to illumination and wisdom.. By allowing modern psychological processes into the creation of a Spiritual Growth agenda, ...
I posed the following question on Twitter: "What is the mortality rate for [COVID-19] patients who require mechanical ventilation?" and received answers ranging from 25% to 70% from people who have personal knowledge of outcomes in their hospitals.. Probably the best published information we have so far is from the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Center (ICNARC) in the UK. Of 165 patients admitted to ICUs, 79 (48%) died. Of the 98 patients who received advanced respiratory support-defined as invasive ventilation, BPAP or CPAP via endotracheal tube, or tracheostomy, or extracorporeal respiratory support-66% died.. Compare that to the 36% mortality rate of non-COVID patients receiving advanced respiratory support reported to ICNARC from 2017 to 2019.. An article in The Guardian said this about the ICNARC study, "The high death rate raises questions about how effective critical care will be in saving the lives of people struck down by the disease.". We know nothing about the survival ...
It is important to gather employee perceptions about healthy and unhealthy foods and learn about factors they view as barriers and facilitators to making healthy dietary choices in worksites. Findings from this study imply that a broad range of factors affect healthy eating in a factory-based cafeteria. Manual labourers described healthy and unhealthy foods in the context of hygiene, with freshly prepared foods being viewed as healthy. In addition, they identified fruits and vegetables as healthy foods. Packaged foods and soda were considered healthy despite lacking nutritional value. A commonly reported facilitator of healthy eating was the availability of affordable healthy food options in the cafeteria, which in turn depends on the commitment of the cafeteria management, knowledge and attitudes of the cafeteria operators, and adequate human resources. In addition, most participants cited that personal knowledge and attitudes contribute to making healthy food choices. Major barriers to healthy ...
Today across America, were witnessing an explosion in the planned deployment of spy drones, military drones and surveillance drones, both for law enforcement use and military use. The FAA has granted permission for tens of thousands of drones to be flown in the skies of America, and companies like Raytheon are working on tiny munitions (missiles) that can be carried by single-shot drones. What follows is my personal analysis of near-future drone capabilities and countermeasures, extrapolated from information found in public articles as well as my personal knowledge of military and law enforcement tactics and mission profiles. Drones are now being weaponized in America. As reported in AINonline (http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/2012-07-08/raytheons-purpose-b...) Raytheons new small tactical munition (STM), which the U.S. group claims is the first purpose-built weapon for tactical unmanned air systems (UAS), could be in active service within a few months. The STM is 22 inches long, 3.6 ...
As you just read, Alzheimers is number 6 on the list and it really and truly affects the elderly. We need caregivers, and to have some personal knowledge and pre-planning as this will make a big difference. Here are some facts you may not know: 16.1 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimers or other dementias. These caregivers provide an estimated 18.4 billion hours of care valued at over $323 billion. Between 2000 and 2015, deaths from heart disease have decreased 11 percent, while deaths from Alzheimers have increased by 123 percent. Today, one in three seniors die with Alzheimers or another dementia. It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. While currently there are 5.7 million Americans living with Alzheimers, by the year 2050 that number is expected to rise to 14 million. This is due to the fact we are living longer. As you may know, centenarians are the fastest growing age group in our country ...

Kim moved across the United States from Alaska to New York to pursue education in perfusion. From her experience, she has learned that "a successful perfusionist is reliant on gaining the trust of a room full of people that may come from completely different backgrounds. You treat your patient with your equipment and knowledge, but you also treat the surgeon and a room full of professionals with careful communication and a calm demeanor to ease a stressful situation.". Several years ago, Kim was a medical volunteer in Ghana and from that experience realized she aspired to gain more personal knowledge to more directly help people in need on her next volunteer trip. Becoming a perfusionist was her answer. She now is feeling more qualified to utilize her skills to directly assist those in developing countries. Kim is excited to join Novick Cardiac Alliance as a perfusion student, honestly stating, "Ive learned to participate in a highly skilled team to give a patient a permanent, life changing ...
Sprawls Global Collaborative Teaching Network. Learning physics is a natural human process by which a person can observe and interact with parts of the physical universe, such as x-radiation, and having an experienced physicist guiding the activity.. Teaching is the process of helping someone learn. There are typically two components of teaching. One is providing connections to the physical universe through which someone can observe, interact, and study. The other is organizing and guiding the learning activity and enhancing it with ones personal knowledge, experience, and insight. Collaborative teaching is when these two functions are provided by two or more persons (teachers), each providing a significant contribution to the learning activity.. The Sprawls Resources is a collection of educational materials developed to connect the learner to the physical universe associated with the various medical imaging methods in class and conference sessions, collaborative group activities, and for ...

With very limited means of communication it is possible to create satisfactory artistic illusions in the listeners mind by relying upon his personal knowledge and by appealing to his feelings. Realism can be created by purely technical means provided the conditions can be specified in physically realizable terms. The...

There are four states that do not allow a notary to make the required statement: Michigan, Illinois, California and New York. If you are from one of these states you need to do the following: The custodian makes a photocopy of the original document, makes a written statement about the trueness, correctness and completeness of the copy, signs the statement before a notary, is identified by the notary and takes an oath affirming the truth of the statement. The notary, having witnessed the signing, identifies the signer either through personal knowledge or satisfactory evidence, and given the oath or affirmation, executes the notary statement ...

Although I was not present, I have personal knowledge of the incident in this article.. The target in question was a wooden post about 30 feet away in the watery marsh. This is an isolated marsh with nobody past the target. The shooters were firing from an upward position and could see for many miles all around. They were under experienced, direct adult supervision the entire time, by a person other than the deceased.. Low tide exposed several inches of a concrete post collar just above the waterline. The concrete collar was covered in mud and grime and not recognizable as separate from the wooden post to anyone except perhaps the person who drove it. It may not have even been visible at that distance.. The ricochet occurred nearly straight back from the concrete collar and struck the deceased who was on a level below. CPR was started immediately but the deceased had been struck in the heart. Clearly there are lessons to learn from any accident, especially one that ends in tragedy. There is ...
Today is Memorial Day. It has been the best Memorial Day I remember ever having. My dads first cousin was killed in action in Vietnam, 45 years ago today. I have grown up hearing about him--and have always felt sad and had a great respect for him and for what he did. Well, 10 years ago today (was it really that long ago?), his best friend and Platoon Sergeant contacted a Bishop living here, hoping to make contact with any of the family that remained here. In some ways, his being able to even get hold of the Bishop was a miracle, and the other miracle was that this Bishop happened to be an "old timer" who had personal knowledge of the family, and was able to get the right information to the family so they could make contact. His buddy has, of course, suffered from PTSD, and it took him a long time to be emotionally able to make the contact (he said he had that phone number for 2 years before he was finally able to bring himself to make the call.) He came up here and visited then, and the contact ...

By: Elena Grace Flores. It is a personal knowledge that the late Agbimuddin Kiram is way too old and sickly since 2005 to lead the Sabah Standoff in Lahad Datu in 2013. However, he continues to inspire his group headed by his son, Datu Sayed. The group follows the no retreat or no surrender principle when it comes to Sabah Claim. It is totally voluntary and not all of them are Muslim. Some are Catholics. "Over my dead body" sort of mentality. The government has no choice but to support them despite the outcome because their existence is real. No one can kill their nationalistic spirit. The Lahad Datu casualties only multiply the Royal Army equipped with a vengeance.. ...
Robert Koch was born on December 11, 1843, at Clausthal in the Upper Harz Mountains. The son of a mining engineer, he astounded his parents at the age of five by telling them that he had, with the aid of the newspapers, taught himself to read, a feat which foreshadowed the intelligence and methodical persistence which were to be so characteristic of him in later life. He attended the local high school («Gymnasium») and there showed an interest in biology and, like his father, a strong urge to travel.. In 1862 Koch went to the University of Göttingen to study medicine. Here the Professor of Anatomy was Jacob Henle and Koch was, no doubt, influenced by Henles view, published in 1840, that infectious diseases were caused by living, parasitic organisms. After taking his M.D. degree in 1866, Koch went to Berlin for six months of chemical study and there came under the influence of Virchow. In 1867 he settled, after a period as Assistant in the General Hospital at Hamburg, in general practice, ...
Bacteriology, branch of microbiology dealing with the study of bacteria. The beginnings of bacteriology paralleled the development of the microscope. The first person to see microorganisms was probably the Dutch naturalist Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, who in 1683 described some animalcules, as they
Background: Score worksheets have been extracted for PhD candidates in Epidemiology, Microbiology and Parasitology for the academic year of 1386-87. The main objective in this study is the impact and importance of different subjects on the discrimination results of admission. Methods: Extracted scores from worksheets are analyzed by MINITAB15 statistical toolbox. The regression values of different subjects were extracted and sorted for each branch of study. All subject correlation coefficients were calculated in comparison to overall candidate performance. A redundancy measure was suggested on the basis of correlation of different subject performances. The distribution box plots were shown for different subject to visualize comparison. Results: The repeatability and redundancy between different subjects were high in bacteriology. The different subjects in this branch of study had efficient and equal impact on discrimination. The bacteriology as a subject had shown lowest significance in epidemiology,
In Bacteriology, the research primarily revolves around non-food-borne bacteria, which can spread from animals to humans and cause illness (zoonoses), and on fish bacteriology. The focus is on the interaction between the host and the pathogenic microorganism.. Alternatives to antibiotics Bacterial and parasitic infections are often very harmful to the animal and can be difficult to treat with commonly known antibiotics and anthelmintics, respectively. Hence, there is a need for more knowledge about these microorganisms to better develop alternative methods for treatment. Furthermore, the goal in the longer run is to develop vaccines against bacterial diseases that often affect fish, pigs, and ruminants, so that the animals are protected against bacteria.. ...

Tubercle bacilli causes natural infection in humans, other primates, dogs. M. bovis produces tuberculosis in cattles, dogs and cats, also in humans. The disease is acquired by the inhalation of droplet nuclei of respiratory secretions or particles of dry sputum containing tubercle bacilli. After inhalation they multiply very slowly inside WBC that have phagocytized them. They stimulates a host response that includes neutrophil infiltration and fluid accumulation within the alveoli of the lungs. The organisms eventually rupture and destroy the neutrophils. Later macrophages and lymphocytes move into the area. Alveolar macrophages also phagocytize the living tubercle bacilli, which are again able to multiply within and destroy their new hosts. Rupture of phagocytes releases infective organisms. No toxins, but an acute inflammatory response occurs as additional cells are infected. A large quantity of fluid is released, especially in lung tissue, where it produces pneumonia-like symptoms. Sometimes ...
By Patrick J. Buchanan. "British jobs for British workers!" thundered Gordon Brown, as he emerged from the shadow of Tony Blair to become prime minister.. His populist sloganeering has now come back to bite him.. Across Britain, thousands laid down tools in wildcat strikes in solidarity with a walkout from a French-owned oil refinery in North Killinghome - to protest a $300 million contract to an Italian company that plans to bring in 400 Italian and Portuguese workers to fulfill it.. As Brown pleaded from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that Britain must not retreat into "protectionism," strikes spread to Scotland, Wales and Ulster.. Britains commitment to let foreigners buy up its utilities and industries and bring in foreign workers to run them has backfired. Browns own Labor Party is now angrily demanding that he live up to his pledge: British jobs for British workers.. "The Return of Economic Nationalism," wails the alarmed cover of The Economist. And understandably ...
In this volume Allen Buchanan collects ten of his most influential essays on justice and healthcare and connects the concerns of bioethicists with those of political philosophers, focusing not just on the question of which principles of justice in healthcare ought to be implemented, but also on the question of the legitimacy of institutions through which they are implemented.

As a young boy, James Buchanan Barnes lost his father (a soldier during WWII), and was adopted by Camp Lehigh as their mascot, and given the nickname "Bucky". It was here that he learned the identity of Captain America. He underwent rigorous training and was assigned to be Caps sidekick, accompanying him on many adventures, and the two often worked with the original Invaders. However, on a final mission against Baron Zemo, Bucky and Cap hopped on an experimental drone plane in an attempt to disarm a bomb. The bomb detonated, dropping Cap in the North Atlantic where, many years later, he would be found and thawed out by the Avengers. American forces never found Buckys body, and he was presumed dead. Unbeknownst to the Americans, he had been found and revived by Russian General Vasily Karpov ...

HE WAS THE RAREST OF BREEDS-A GUITARISTS GUITARIST WITH AN innate grasp of bittersweet country sounds, wailing blues licks, sophisticated jazz harmonies, and balls-out rock and roll, all presented with spine-tingling tone, innovative techniques, and a downhome nonchalance that could be downright disarming. Roy Buchanan (1939-1988) immeasurably altered the evolutionary course of the electric guitar by introducing previously unheard but now commonplace tones and techniques to the instruments pantheon using only the simplest tools and a vivid imagination.

Early buyers will receive 10% customization on reports.. In this report, the blood culture tests market is segmented on the basis of method, product, technology, application, end user, and region. Based on end user, the blood culture tests market is segmented into hospital laboratories, reference laboratories, academic research laboratories, and other laboratories (pathology laboratories, bacteriological laboratories, physician office laboratories (POLs), and independent research laboratories). The reference laboratories segment is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. The high growth of this segment is attributed to the increasing outsourcing of blood culture tests by hospitals to reference laboratories, as they can perform a large volume of tests and are equipped with advanced diagnostic techniques that provide blood culture tests with a quick turnaround time.. Geographically, the blood culture tests market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia, and the Rest ...
It grows on blood agar scantily as V factor not available (it is inside RBC). When Staph. aureus is streaked across a plate of blood agar, on which H. influenzae too inoculated. After overnight incubation, the colonies of Haemophilus will be large and developed alongside with Staph. This phenomenon is called satellitism. The lysed erythrocytes in the agar surrounding the S. aureus streak provide factor X, and staphylococcal cells themselves secrete factor V during logarithmic growth. When blood agar is heated to 80-90°C, or boiled for a few minutes, the V factor is released from the RBC and this media is superior to blood agar for the growth of H. influenzae. Clear transparent medium may be prepared by boiling and filtering a mixture of blood and nutrient broth ie., Levinthals Medium or by adding a peptic digest of blood to nutrient agar - Fildes Agar, which is best for primary isolation of H. influenzae and gives a vast growth. Capsulated strains produce translucent colonies with a ...

At 1.00 am last night, our Tech team took down the website for maintenance and for a few hours, ads were not served. This morning though, everything is up and running again and back to normal. All blogs serving Nuffnang ads loaded as usual and were not affected by the breach.. This security lapse is an isolated incident, as the security of our sites has always been and always will be our utmost priority. It has however opened our eyes on some vulnerabilities we had on our website. In response to that, we will be taking measures to further heighten the security of the Nuffnang framework because from what we understand, that was after all the motivation of the hackers - not to cause any permanent damage, but to highlight vulnerabilities in a system.. To the Nuffnangers who made many attempts to alert us once word got out that the Nuffnang site was hacked, we cannot begin to thank you enough.. To the wonderful Nuffnang community, thank you for standing by us in this time of crisis. Your patience ...
