RHD is the most common cause of heart disease in children in developing countries and is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in adults as well. It has been estimated that between 15 and 19 million people worldwide are affected by RHD, with approximately one-quarter of a million deaths occurring each year. Patterns of genetic structure are essential for a comprehensive understanding of the evolution and biogeography of a species. Here, we investigated the genetic patterns of one of the most widespread and abundant mangrove species in the Indo-West Pacific, Sonneratia alba J. Sm., in order to gain insights into the ecological and evolutionary drivers of genetic structure in mangroves. We employed 11 nuclear microsatellite loci and two chloroplast regions to genotyped 25 S. alba populations. Our objectives were to (1) assess the level of genetic diversity and its geographic distribution; and (2) determine the genetic structure of the populations. Our results revealed significant genetic differentiation among populations. We detected a major genetic break between Indo-Malesia and Australasia, and further population subdivision within each oceanic region in these two major clusters. There is a need for a clear definition of exacerbations used in clinical trials in patients with bronchiectasis. An expert conference was convened to develop a consensus definition of an exacerbation for use in clinical research.. A systematic review of exacerbation definitions used in clinical trials from January 2000 until December 2015 and involving adults with bronchiectasis was conducted. A Delphi process followed by a round-table meeting involving bronchiectasis experts was organised to reach a consensus definition. Foetal alcohol syndrome is a collection of birth defects involving physical and neurodevelopmental impairments. It results in low intelligence, behavioural disorders, poor social judgement and general difficulty in performing everyday tasks. Local foetal alcohol syndrome figures are up to 100 times higher than other populations, such as indigenous nations of North America and Australasia, traditionally considered high risk. In the Western and Northern Cape provinces, between 5% and 10% of children entering school have foetal alcohol syndrome. And there are areas in the Western Cape with clusters of higher foetal alcohol syndrome rates than those found in earlier studies. Andrew Henry Barlow (1836-1915), bank officer and politician, was born in August 1836 at Wanstead, Essex, England, son of John Henry Barlow, merchant, and his wife Eliza Ann, née Burnstead. This beautiful spider is a Golden Orb Weaver in the family Nephilidae (formerly grouped under the Araneidae and Tetragnathidae). The genus is Herennia, and it has an Australasian distribution (India to the Solomon Islands). This is a very small genus with only 11 known species, usually referred to as Coin Spiders, most of which have been described only within the last decade. The island of Java apparently has two species; H. multipuncta is widespread throughout South and Southeast Asia and H. etruscilla is endemic to Java. There are several online images of H. multipuncta and they dont match the one in this post. The definitive paper on the genus is A Revision of Herennia (Araneae: Nephilidae: Nephilinae), the Australasian coin spiders by Kuntner (2005), in which both the detailed descriptions and photos of H. etruscilla provide a very good match to Mohamads spider.
