Speaking of the typical Armenian: For 25 years and counting, the typical Armenian in Armenia has been more interested about how his wealthy neighbors are living than with trying to build a life for himself. For 25 years and counting, the typical Armenian in Armenia has been more prone to sitting back and complaining about having no work and no money than actually making an effort to look for work, any kind of work, to make money. Employers in Armenia actually have problems with finding laborers and service sector workers not because such workers dont exist but because many Armenians refuse to do "demeaning" work. Needless to say, those who refrain from doing "menial" work in Armenia dont have any problems with doing any kind of demeaning/degrading work when they are in foreign countries. For 25 years and counting, the typical Armenian in Armenia has been using abortion as a primary method of contraception and as a means of genociding females. For 25 years and counting, the typical Armenian in ...

Yerevan, Armenia, 12 December 2017 - A model fish-production farm that uses new, water-saving production methods is being inaugurated today in Sayat-Nova, in Armenias Ararat province. The new installation was made possible by an FAO project and a public private-partnership.. Groundwater levels in the Ararat Valley have been falling in recent years due to overutilization - by aquaculture and other sectors. At the request of the Government of Armenia, FAO developed an efficient solution for maintaining fish production while significantly reducing water use.. The new facility, based on the FAO system and built under FAOs technical supervision, was officially opened today with a ceremony attended by Armenian Minister of Agricujlture Ignati Arakelyan, FAO Representative in Armenia Raimund Jehle, officials of the ministries of Agriculture and of Nature Protection, and representatives of other ...
Dr. Sui Chien Wong joined the team of EyeCare Project Physicians in 2014, when the London-based ophthalmologist got a call from the EyeCare Projects Founder Dr. Roger Ohanesian.. Dr. Ohanesian shared with Dr. Wong the overwhelming number of babies in Armenia who were going blind due to a debilitating eye disease called Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) that affects premature infants.. Knowing of Dr. Wongs expertise in this field, Dr. Ohanesian urged the exceptional ophthalmologist to get involved with the EyeCare Project and save infants in Armenia from a lifetime of blindness. "Its not right for babies to go blind when there is potential treatment," Dr. Wong said when talking of his decision. "I couldnt refuse that request.". Dr. Wong made his first trip to Armenia in 2014, and has now made 11 visits (and counting) to the country to perform surgery and train Armenian physicians - he makes the trip from London about every three months.. I spoke to Nvard Margaryan, president of PINK Armenia, an NGO advocating for LGBT rights, about these hostile attitudes. Margaryan quotes forthcoming research showing that over 90% of Armenians want homosexuality to be restricted by law. Around a third of respondents believe that homosexuality is the result of a childs "wrong" upbringing. Founded in 2007, PINK Armenia promotes public awareness of LGBT rights - its mission is to create a safe space for LGBT people in Armenia by promoting legal, psychological and social protection. But NGOs like PINK Armenia are in a delicate situation. PINK and associated LGBT activists and allies have experienced hate crimes and security threats because of their work. The most chilling case came two days after heated parliamentary elections in May 2012, a group of young neo-nationalists firebombed DIY, a gay-friendly pub in Yerevan. More worryingly, the bombing and its aftermath put an end to the desire of opposition groups to mobilise around the alleged ...

By Seda Grigoryan. I don t know. Must I pass all this down to my kids or not ? I don t know. Should I continue to remain Armenian or just get on with life?. These are two types of "existence" of the scale that don t fully equate but that counterbalance the other given the dictates of reality to live or remain Armenian.. The young French-Armenian woman came clean on behalf of all diaspora youth who wage another battle in the overall battle of daily life to remain Armenian. Is the preservation of Armenian identity given such prominence and thought; is it that mandatory? Isn t it hard enough just to live without trying to maintain ones national identity in a society where western values hold sway? Such questions are faced by many diaspora Armenian youth who still recognize their Armenian roots and who say that they are Armenian, in addition to being French, Belgian and American.. 20 year-old Rouben I feel different from the French "When you re young you don t give the matter much thought. But when ...

It will be a hundred years since 1.5 million were massacred in Armenia during clashes with the Turkish forces at the end of the First World War on the 24th of April. Armenians believe the massacre was the first genocide of the 21st century while the Turkey has continuously insisted it was the result of a Civil War as the Ottoman Empire collapsed as a result of World War I.. Find the best Cyber Monday Deals 2017. The fierce dispute still rages between the Turkey and Armenia to this day, in which mostly Muslim Turks and Christian Armenians were killed as victims of war. Recently the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a special ceremony to show respect to those killed in 1915 and stated they will never forget their fallen. There have been various Western records representing the Armenian population, but demographic figures representing the total Armenian population within the Ottoman Empire were few. The problem with such figures is that they do not cover the same regions. For instance, many times "Anatolia" is equalled with the Ottoman Empire. Other times there are partial statistics representing one region, like Turkish Armenia, Ottoman Armenia, Asiatic Turkey, Anatolia, Ottoman Empire, 6 Armenian Villeyets, 9 Armenian Villeyets etc. Another problem with the figures is that those numbers were drawn from a period of about 20 to 30 years, mostly from 1890 to 1915. German official figures representing the Armenian population within the Empire were about 1.9 million to 2 million.[11] side of 1.8 million.[12] Ludovic de Contenson, present the figure of 1,150,000 for Asiatic Turkey, and call them "statistics" without any sources. His numbers suggest that they might actually be the Ottoman census statistics, without ...
While China is expanding its influence around the world, Armenian officials contend that their relatively multi-vector foreign policy gives Yerevan an advantage in gaining Beijings attention. "Armenia is attractive to China because not only is it a strategic partner of Russia, but it also has a very good relationship with the European Union, with which we will soon sign a new agreement," said Karen Bekaryan, an MP from the governing Republican Party of Armenia. "Armenia has traditionally warm relations with the United States, has traditionally good relations with the Arab world ...

Children in Armenia, born with red and purple birthmarks on their face or body, live with a life altering conditions that leaves them isolated and ostracized, ridiculed by other children in school, and deprived of a normal childhood. Although not life threating, these skin conditions have a huge psychological impact on a childs life. In the United States and in most developed countries, these birthmarks, known as vascular anomalies, are treated shortly after birth with simple medical laser procedures. Such procedures for treating vascular birthmarks and scars, developed by Harvard Professor Dr. Rox Anderson, were made specifically to remove the birthmarks, without the need for conventional surgery. Millions of children worldwide, born with vascular anomalies, have benefited from these laser treatments, which have changed the trajectory of their entire lives. In Armenia, these children were left untreated, because this technology did not exist. Untreated, these birthmarks become darker in color, ...

Armenia has an upward trend in cesarean sections (CS); the CS rate increased from 7.2% in 2000 to 31.0% in 2017. The purpose of this study was to investigate potential factors contributing to the rapidly increasing rates of CS in Armenia and identify the actual costs of CS and vaginal birth (VB), which are different from the reimbursement rates by the Obstetric Care State Certificate Program of the Ministry of Health. This was a partially mixed concurrent quantitative-qualitative equal status study. The research team collected qualitative data via in-depth interviews (IDI) with obstetrician-gynecologists (OBGYN) and policymakers and focus group discussions (FGD) with women. The quantitative phase of the study utilized the bottom-up cost accounting (considering only direct variable costs) from the perspective of providers, and it included self-administered provider surveys and retrospective review of mother and child hospital records. The survey questionnaire was developed based on IDIs with providers of

Tree planting is the best action to take in order to mitigate deforestation and tree removal. However care must be taken not to unwittingly harm the environment. One may ask how is it possible to harm the environment by planting trees?. There are many non-Armenian tree species (non-native species), which are invasive and can aggressively occupy an area by crowding out and eventually replacing native, indigenous species of trees. Unfortunately, in Armenia, after the massive tree-cutting period of the early 1990s the planting of invasive species became a common practice, mostly due to lack of awareness of the ecological detriment that planting of invasive species can cause.. Below is a partial list of trees and shrubs which are growing in Armenia. We generally recommend planting only species that are labeled as native. Any species labeled invasive should never be planted and actually should be removed whenever possible. These invasive species have a particular ability to produce thousands and ...

Since ancient times the civilizational and geopolitical importance of Armenia has been conditioned by the rich natural resources of the Armenian Highland (400,000 km2), its defense power and strategic position in Western Asia and cultural creativeness of the native Armenian nation.
