Introduction: To ascertain the incidence of early complications in the posterolateral approach to open reduction and internal fixation of posterior malleolar fractures and identify possible risk factors related to occurrence of these complications. Methods: Retrospective study carried out in three tertiary hospitals. Patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation of posterior malleolus fractures via the posterolateral route were divided into two groups: with versus without delayed postoperative healing. To assess risk and protective factors for the outcome of delayed healing, we evaluated the time between trauma and surgery, whether the patient had a fracture-dislocation of the ankle, and whether external fixation was performed before surgery. Sprain of the ankle is undoubtedly a common injury during athletic activity, and the sprain can be also associated with fracture of the ankle. Isolated posterior malleolus fracture is a very rare condition, which is usually missed. Here, we are presenting a 37 years old female patient, who suffered injury secondary pressing on brake pedal during collision in a traffic accident. Clinical evaluation is based on Ottawa Ankle Rules and a fracture is diagnosed; patient is started on daily activities at postoperative Week 8. If you have no money, the simplest way to get it fixed is to use a stainless metal screw (or galvanized if you cannot find stainless). Simply screw it into where the hole is at. When you insert the screw, the metal of the tank will form around the screw. This is an old timers trick. Back in the day when a tank would get some water in it (because of bad gas), the water would settle to the bottom of the tank (water being lighter than gasoline), a person would drill a small hole at the lowest most point of the tank and let the water flow out. Then youd screw a small metal screw up into the tank to seal the hole. All I can say is, it works. This will plug the hole with minimal stress. Most liquid or epoxy type glues/fillers can be washed away, diluted, or damaged by gasoline which is a pretty good solvent in its own right.. The aim of this study was to compare the long-term clinical and radiological results of Acromioclavicular (AC) fixation with K-wires (the modified Phemister procedure) and Coracoclavicular (CC) fixation with the Bosworth screw in the surgical treatment of Type 3 AC joint dislocations. Thirty-two patients with complete set of medical records and who received surgical treatment between September 2005 and January 2009 due to acute Rockwood Type 3 AC joint dislocation and properly attended their follow-ups were retrospectively evaluated. It usually leads to degenerative changes in neighboring joints and frequently avascular necrosis is a predictable outcome. We present a case of total talus dislocation because of a high-energy trauma in association with other major fractures resulting from a fall from height, but no fracture could be detected in the talus and any of malleols. Closed reduction was unsuccessful and we performed open reduction. At 6 month post operation follow-up, the talus didnt show subluxation and avascular necrosis could not be detected.
