Subjects with high- (Highs) and low (Lows)-susceptibilities to hypnosis have shown different levels of skill at visual and somesthetic-guided imageries performed during upright stance. The aim of this experiment is to study the modulation of the EEG alpha and theta band amplitude during guided visual and somesthetic imageries in Highs and Lows, as these rhythms are responsive to the cognitive activities involved in mental imagery. The EEG-mapping was performed for 32 patients with diff erent forms of migraine. The EEG registration was carried out between the attacks. To test this hypothesis, we performed combined EEG-MRI experiments which aim to localize the neuronal current sources of alpha waves (8-12 Hz), one of the most prominent EEG phenomena in humans. The relationship between the electro-encephalographic (EEG) alpha and beta oscillations in the resting condition was investigated in the study. EEGs were recorded in 33 subjects, and alpha (7.5-12.5Hz) and beta (15-25Hz) oscillations were extracted with the use of a modified wavelet transform. Power, peak frequency and phase synchronisation were evaluated for both types of oscillation. The average beta-alpha peak frequency ratio was about 1.9-2.0 for all electrode derivations. The peak frequency of beta activity was within 70-90 % of the 95 % confidence interval of twice the alpha frequency. A significant (p , 0.05) linear regression was found between beta and alpha power in all derivations in 32 subjects, with the slope of the regression line being approximate to 0.3. The over-arching hypothesis that drives my work is that neural dynamics, fluctuating on millisecond to second time scales, powerfully impact perception. In this thesis, I employ correlative electrophysiological recording methods and causal optogenetic control of neural circuits to systematically test the importance of dynamics in the expression of pre-stimulus oscillations on perception. In this study, the effect of Pilates training on the brain function was investigated through five case studies. Alpha rhythm changes during the Pilates training over the different regions and the whole brain were mainly analyzed, including power spectral density and global synchronization index (GSI). It was found that the neural network of the brain was more active, and the synchronization strength reduced in the frontal and temporal regions due to the Pilates training. These results supported that the Pilates training is very beneficial for improving brain function or intelligence. These findings maybe give us some line evidence to suggest that the Pilates training is very helpful for the intervention of brain degenerative diseases and cogitative dysfunction rehabilitation.

We measured magnetoencephalgraphic (MEG) responses and conducted a phase analysis of the specific alpha band frequency component. We gave ten subjects a questionnaire with images of animals prepared beforehand. To investigate using quantitative EEG the (1) differences between patients with mild cognitive impairment with Lewy bodies (MCI-LB) and MCI with Alzheimers disease (MCI-AD) and (2) its utility as a potential biomarker for early differential diagnosis. We analyzed eyes-closed, resting-state, high-density EEG data from highly phenotyped participants (39 MCI-LB, 36 MCI-AD, and 31 healthy controls). EEG measures included spectral power in different frequency bands (delta, theta, pre-alpha, alpha, and beta), theta/alpha ratio, dominant frequency, and dominant frequency variability. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were performed to assess diagnostic accuracy. There was a shift in power from beta and alpha frequency bands towards slower frequencies in the pre-alpha and theta range in MCI-LB compared to healthy controls.
