Based on the rulings, the entire case against B/E Aerospace was dismissed.. MAG Aerospace sued B/E Aerospace in August 2013 for allegedly infringing three patents related to vacuum toilets that can be used on commercial aircraft. The patents pertain specifically to vacuum toilet assemblies and methods for repairing these toilets (U.S. Patent Numbers 6,353,942; 6,536,054; and 6,536,055). In its complaint, MAG Aerospace claimed that B/E Aerospaces patented lightweight Ecosystems vacuum toilet infringed MAGs earlier patents. Within days of receiving the complaint, B/E Aerospace publicly denied these allegations and shortly thereafter retained Irell to defend against MAG Aerospaces claims. After claim construction ...

Congress has directed studies of women in the military. The frequency and causes of medical disqualification for female applicants to Army aviator training are unknown. The U.S. Army Aviation Epidemiology Data Register was queried to provide a descriptive analysis of a cohort of female applicants to Army aviator training for calendar years 1987 to 1990. There was a total of 774 female Class 1 and Class 1A applicants to U.S. Army aviator training during calendar years 1987 to 1990. Among the applicants, 41.2 percent were Class 1 (Warrant officer candidates) and 58.8 percent were Class IA (Commissioned officers). Commissioned officer applicants were significantly younger than Warrant officer applicants (p < 0.001, 2-sided, Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic). Among Class 1 applicants, 38.9 percent were medically disqualified compared to 36.7 percent for Class 1A. There was no difference in the risk for medical disqualification between Class 1 and 1A (Relative risk = 1.059, CI sub 95% = O.882, 1.272)

Air travel has become an important part of modern life. Many more women are now employed in jobs that involve frequent flying, and, in fact, most flight attendants are women of reproductive age. In parallel, with the average age of starting a family steadily increasing, many more pregnant women have medical conditions that might be exacerbated by air travel.. Naturally, the most compelling studies on reproductive risks originate from research in flight attendants. In a cross-sectional survey among current and former flight attendants, Lauria et al 1 did not detect higher rates of miscarriage associated with active work. They did, however, find higher rates of menstrual irregularities among current flight attendants and 60% higher rates of infertility. 1 The lack of risk of spontaneous abortions was corroborated by others. 2 However, flight attendants who experienced spontaneous abortions reported working substantially more flight hours (74 hours per month) than did flight attendants who had live ...

Have you ever been curious what medical equipment is available if you were involved in an in-flight medical emergency? Ill admit that Im one of the last people to raise my hand when flight attendants ask for medical personnel to assist. However, Ive been on two flights where I was the only medical provider. After being involved in two in-flight medical emergencies within the same year, I decided to investigate this topic further. Surprisingly, there is no medical provider on 10-25 % of all flights. It is estimated that 44,000 in-flight medical emergencies occur yearly with 7.3% of them requiring diversion of the flight. Its quite a foreign feeling to be assessing and treating a patient in a nontraditional setting without your everyday equipment readily available. So, in the unlikely event this happens to you, here is a list of the minimum medical equipment requirements for commercial flights carrying at least 20-30 passengers with at least 1 flight attendant on board per FAA guidelines ...
Hudek was charged with interfering with a flight crew, which carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is expected to remain in custody at least until a detention hearing on July 13.. One flight attendant and a passenger were taken to a hospital after suffering severe facial injuries, authorities said. Perry Cooper, a spokesman for the Port of Seattle, described the injuries as non-life-threatening.. A probable cause statement written by FBI special agent Caryn Highley said Hudek was sitting in the first row of the Boeing 767s first-class section. He asked a flight attendant for a beer before takeoff, and was served one, but he exhibited no sign of being intoxicated and ordered no other alcoholic drinks, the attendant told authorities.. About an hour into the flight, while the plane was over the Pacific Ocean northwest of Vancouver Island, Hudek went into the forward restroom. He came out quickly, asked the attendant a question, and went back in, the agent ...

Retired Colonel Charles Halt says that he believes security personnel were secretly drugged and hypnotized after witnessing an extraordinary UFO event. Halt was the base commander of Bentwaters Royal Air Force base, where the UFO incident took place, while it was being leased by the USAF during the cold war. He made these statements on Open Minds Radio, an online radio program featuring news on the UFO phenomena and will be elaborating on his experience at the International UFO Congress in Scottsdale, Arizona next February.. While serving as Deputy Commander of RAF Bentwaters in 1980, Halt was made aware of a UFO investigation conducted by base security on the evening of December 26. Staff-sergeant James Penniston and two airmen went into nearby Rendlesham forest to investigate strange lights. They reported coming across a luminous triangular object that Penniston was able to approach and touch before it rose into the air and flew off at an incredible speed. Halt was skeptical of the encounter ...
