Objective To evaluate the intervention effects of health education on AIDS-related knowledge,attitude and behaviors of MSM in colleges,and provide reference for formulating effective intervention measures.Methods On the basis of the baseline survey conducted by sampling of snowball,comprehensive intervention strategies were taken among all subjects,such as AIDS-related health education for 6 months and peer education.And investigation was conducted again after intervention.Results Before and after intervention,the proportion of subjects who admited having homosexual behaviors within the last 6 months changed from 78.2% to 75.4%,and no significance was found(P0.05).Whether homosexual or heterosexual,the prevalence rates of sexual behaviors were all obviously higher before intervention.The proportion of subjects using condoms in the last homosexual behavior changed from 56.5% before intervention to 67.9% after intervention,there was significant differenec(P0.05).There was no significant difference before

A detailed examination of AIDS mortality in North Carolina has not previously been published. In this report, sociodemographic patterns of AIDS mortality in North Carolina were investigated for the 5-year period 1988-1992. Young adults aged 25-44 accounted for 78 percent of AIDS deaths in North Carolina during the study period. AIDS mortality rates were higher among men than women, and much higher among blacks compared to whites. AIDS mortality increased rapidly among adults aged 25-44 during the 5- year study period, becoming the leading cause of death among black men, the second leading cause of death among black women, and the fourth leading cause of death among white men by 1992. This is, to our knowledge, the first study that has aimed to identify and quantify AIDS deaths misclassification and under-report at a National level in Brazil. Other authors have estimated the extent of AIDS death misclassifications in the state of Rio de Janeiro by linking data of patients from two HIV/AIDS cohorts with data from the Mortality Information System in Rio de Janeiro.7 Their methodology is, unfortunately, impossible to apply at a National level. Saccadic duration for the AIDS group was significantly greater than that of the controls for both adducting and abducting saccades (P , .02 for adduction and P , .01 for abduction). Currently, the only FDA-approved therapy for patients with AIDS or ARC is zidovudine (AZT), a drug with significant value but limited use because of toxic effects on the bone marrow. d4T has not been tested in humans, but it has inhibited the reproduction of HIV (the virus that causes AIDS) in laboratory experiments. Although zidovudine (AZT) has shown promise in prolonging life in patients with AIDS and severe ARC, it has significant blood toxicities. It would be beneficial to combine AZT with another antiviral agent that does not have the same toxicity. DS might be a suitable drug since it has shown antiviral activity against HIV in the laboratory, and in preliminary studies it has shown little toxicity. Also, the combination of DS with AZT has been shown to be more effective than either alone.. The study will begin with 10 patients with AIDS, 10 with ARC, and 10 with asymptomatic HIV infection taking DS by mouth 3 times a day for 24 weeks. If the initial dose of DS is tolerated without significant side effects, the next group of patients will receive a higher dose. A third group of patients will be given either a higher or lower dose depending on the results of the earlier groups.
