A Philadelphia abortion doctor was found guilty Monday of murdering three babies during late-term abortions at a clinic serving low-income women.
Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline (R), who is running for re-election in November, on Friday said he not was trying to further a political agenda but to protect children when he sought access to the medical records of 90 women and girls who in 2003 underwent late-term abortions at two clinics, the Dodge City Daily Globe reports (Swanson, Dodge City Daily Globe, 8/30).. more. ...
Neosporosis, Hanzlicek said, is caused by Neospora caninum, a coccidian parasite carried by dogs-wild and domestic. It was first discovered in the United States in 1988, but tests on stored older tissues have confirmed the organisms presence since at least the 1950s.. We talk a lot about it on the dairy side, but this organism is also present in beef cow-calf operations, Hanzlicek said.. Dogs, coyotes, gray wolves and dingoes are the definitive hosts of neospora, and they become infected by eating bovine contaminated tissues such as muscle, placenta and aborted fetuses, Hanzlicek explained.. (Neospora) goes into the intestine of these canines, undergoes some changes and then is shed in the feces, he said. It goes through another life cycle on the ground. The cow ingests the contaminated feces, or ingests water or feed that contains the contaminated feces. It then moves to multiple tissues in the bovine: for example, muscles, brain and neurologic tissues, and the liver.. Hanzlicek said ...
An informal survey of Central Kentucky farms on May 21 suggests the worst may be over as far as mare reproductive loss syndrome is concerned. While heavy losses already have been incurred, particularly involving maiden and barren mares bred in February, the good news is that mares bred from late March on appear to be holding their pregnancies at close to normal percentages. Based on the surveys and on the normal distribution of Kentucky foals born between January and June, ,i,The Blood-Horse,/i, estimates the 2002 Kentucky foal crop will decrease by no more than 21%.. ...
Reproductive problems of caprine, ovine, bovine and equine significantly reduce their productivity which is of great concern of production worldwide, because most reproductive problems adversely affect the future fertility. A four year retrospective study of reproductive problems of caprine, ovine, bovine and equine presented to Nyala Veterinary Hospital, South Darfur State, Sudan was conducted with the objective to determine the prevalence of reproductive problems in study animals between January 2012 and December 2015. All Data about animals were collected from case registration books and entered into Microsoft excel sheet and analyzed based on the year of study, the disease frequency and, species of the animals. Total of 362 reproductive problems of caprine, ovine, bovine and equine were recorded between January 2012 and December 2015 from a total of 5001 examined for different clinical cases at Nyala Veterinary Hospital. This study were found to have reproductive problems comprising mastitis ...
A hearing will be held on November 29-30 to determine what, if any, disciplinary action the Board will take, which could include suspension or revocation of Sellas New Mexico medical license.. Sella is a former associate of the late George Tiller, having worked for him at his infamous late-term abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas. After that clinic closed in 2009, Sella went to work for Curtis Boyd at Southwestern Womens Options in Albuquerque, New Mexico, an affiliate of the troubled National Abortion Federation, conducting the same grisly late-term abortion procedure she learned in Wichita.. A former employee at Tillers facility claimed that she once witnessed Sella intentionally stab to death an infant born alive during an abortion.. Sella cancelled her Kansas medical license the same week the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts notified Operation Rescue that a disciplinary petition had been filed against one of Sellas Kansas co-workers, Ann Kristin Neuhaus, who had provided improper ...
By Mark Hennessy and Jamie Smyth in Brussels. The European Court of Human Rights has found Poland guilty of a breach of human rights in an abortion case that could have implications for Ireland.. Three Irish women have taken a case to the court that has similarities with the Polish case. The court may begin hearing the Irish case, lodged in 2005, later this year.. The Polish case concerned Alicja Tysiac, a woman who was told by three doctors that her eyesight could suffer if she proceeded with a pregnancy. However, all three doctors declined to certify Ms Tysiac for an abortion.. They refused, according to the judgment, because they said there was not a certainty that her retina would detach during childbirth, even though they agreed that pregnancy and delivery constituted a risk to her eyesight. In the event, Ms Tysiacs eyesight suffered a steep decline. She is no longer able to see farther than 1.5 metres and is classified as significantly disabled.. Abortion is legal in Poland in ...

As per the studies, women before the age of 45 in the US have an abortion. Even though the number of rates of abortion has been decreased in the past few years, abortion has proved to be a common experience for women. Around 20% of women are likely to have an abortion by the age of 30.. In the US getting an abortion is nothing new. Initially, the abortion cases increased and this was due to a lack of understanding about the protected sexual intercourse. Since today women are made aware of the measures and precautions which can help to avoid pregnancy the number of unwanted pregnancies and abortion has been reduced.. As per the studies, the number of women having an abortion has been reduced to five years and for this, the use of contraception has proved to be a major constricting factor. Despite such reduced rates, women are aware of such concepts.. Women to have an abortion only have to purchase online Abortion Pills and get pregnancy termination. Women do stick to this method as this is an ...
For women who were turned away or had near-limit abortions, money and finances were the most likely reasons for delay. The authors report that reasons for delay among women who were turned away for being over the gestational age limit included travel and procedure costs (58.3 percent of turnaways reported this issue), not recognizing the pregnancy (almost half of turnaways), insurance problems, not knowing where to find abortion care (reported by a third of turnaways), and not knowing how to get to a provider. Interestingly, the near-limit women in this study reported less difficulty deciding to have abortions than the women who had the procedure during the first trimester. This finding runs counter the anti-abortion notion that women who have late-term abortions have simply been irresponsible in waiting so long to make a decision. The authors also performed some calculations to try to estimate how many women are turned away each year due to gestational age limits. They concluded that ...
Written by Joel Gehrke. Hillary Clinton believes that religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed in order to expand access to abortion.. Clinton said yesterday that its not enough to legalize the procedure. Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws dont count for much if theyre not enforced, she said Thursday, per the Daily Caller. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.. The expected Democratic presidential nominee didnt say how she would favor changing those beliefs. Her comments come as congressional Republicans are expected to revive an effort to pass a bill banning abortions after the 20th week of a pregnancy.. The babies and mothers being targeted by the late-term abortion industry have waited long enough for protection, a group of pro-life activists led by Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, said Wednesday.. ...
Ending partial-birth abortion... does not save a single human life. - Dr. James Dobson Scores of pro-life leaders and groups (see their names below) have condemned Gonzales v. Carhart, the U.S. Supreme Courts brutally-wicked ruling upholding the morally bankrupt partial-birth abortion ban. Tragically, other pro-life leaders and groups (see them also) still support this fraudulent ban and ruling which is a virtual manual on how to perform late-term abortions. Brace yourself for American RTLs summary of the PBA fiasco:
Last year the Victorian parliament passed the Abortion Law Reform Act, the freest abortion laws in the world. The new laws have opened the floodgates to late-term abortions, right up to and including nine months.. While the deep moral conflicts between pro-lifers and pro-choicers are long-running, the current law has brought to the fore a whole new issue of unprecedented discrimination.. An unheralded section in the Act and a world first, section 8(1), takes away the right of medical practitioners with a conscientious objection to abortion to decline any involvement in the act of abortion. These practitioners are now forced to supply the names of other health professionals willing to perform, direct, authorise or supervise an abortion.. This new law has flagrantly stripped away the rights of doctors to decline any involvement in an abortion. The legal requirement of a pro-life doctor to refer a patient to a pro-abortion doctor cannot be dismissed as inconsequential. Nor can it be argued that the ...
Germantown, MD, Nov. 27, 2013 (OperationRescue) For the third time this year, one of late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart s abortion patients were rushed to Shady Grove Hospital (SGH) in Maryland for emergency treatment after a late-term abortion. On Tuesday at 11:45 a.m., an ambulance arrived at Germantown Reproductive Health Services and loaded a women for transport to the SGH emergency room. Sources inform Operation Rescue that the women underwent emergency surgery at the hospital. Video taken by a local pro-life activist showed a woman covered head-to-toe in a sheet and that neither Carhart nor any of his staff accompanied the ...
Associate Justice Sandra Day OConnor, joined by Associate Justices White and Rehnquist found  the second-physician requirement of 188.030.3 is constitutional because the State has a compelling interest, extant throughout pregnancy, in protecting and preserving fetal life; The pathology-report requirement of 188.047 is constitutional because it imposes no undue burden on the limited right to undergo an abortion, and its validity is not contingent on the trimester of pregnancy in which it is imposed; and Assuming, arguendo, that the State cannot impose a parental veto on a minors decision to undergo an abortion, the parental consent provision of 188.028.2 is constitutional because it imposes no undue burden on any right that a minor may have to undergo an abortion ...
By Cheryl Sullenger. Beverly Hills, CA - It appears as an upscale doctors office in the tony Southern California community of Beverly Hills. Photos of the interior of the office show lighted artwork on the walls and furnishings that would make a woman of means feel at home.. But appearances can be deceiving. In reality, the Pro-Choice Medical Center, owned and operated by Abortionist to the Stars Josepha Seletz, is a very late-term abortion facility with a worrisome safety record. Operation Rescue has obtained 911 records related to two medical emergencies that occurred there so far this year. Previously obtained records document at least three more such incidents within the past two years.. The most recent call to 911 took place on May 3, 2017. The recording indicates a 33-year old female had just completed an outpatient pregnancy termination and required emergency care for bleeding after the abortion.. Patient had an outpatient pregnancy termination and were trying rule out a little bit ...
This popular blog post about a womans change in position also shares some pretty graphic details of late-term abortions. Mortifying. Just mortifying. Until recently I had never thought through what was actually happening to these babies. I used to think it was terrible that many Chinese people who could only have one child would either chose abortion or abandonment for their female children. How terrible, I thought. What a terrible society, I accused them to be. Little did I know my society was equally as terrible. Most recent available data states that in 2008, approximately 1.21 million abortions took place in the U.S (source) and worldwide, there are estimated to be more than 40 million abortions per year (source). And even worse one blogger who reached out to many women who chose abortion writes, their stories all shared one thing in common, none of them made their decisions lightly and none of them regretted their decisions. Not to say there arent mothers who regret abortion, I know ...
It seems to be taken as axiomatic from pro-life people that we can find no common ground with pro-choice people, and that pro-life people who take exception for rape are not pro-life, they are really pro-abortion with exceptions (thats an awful lot of exceptions for someone who is pro-abortion). Finding common ground does not mean compromising with pro-choice people. Steve Wagner has written an excellent book about this very topic. We can use common ground as a springboard to keep the conversation going. For example, if someone tells me that they oppose late-term abortion, then I can obviously agree with that. Then I can ask someone in what morally relevant way does an early embryo differ from a late-term fetus that would justify killing one but not the other? And calling a pro-life person who believes in the rape exception pro-abortion is just a strawman of their actual views. Just what, exactly, is common ground if we cant find common ground with people who agree with us about ...
LEXINGTON, KY - February 29, 2012 - University of Kentucky experts report that eastern tent caterpillar eggs have begun hatching well ahead of last year and expect the egg hatch to be completed in Central Kentucky by the first full week of March.
By the way, please dont mistake me as suggesting that people can kill their babies as they please. Im really more interested in the abstract question of moral worth. In practice, unwilling parents can always give a born child up for adoption, which would presumably do far more good than killing it, regardless of whether the baby has instrinsic moral worth (or how much). Also, for the record, Im not entirely comfortable with late-term abortions. Here Im just exploring some possibilities - I dont necessarily endorse all the assumptions being made along the way. Lastly, I am not in any way denigrating the worth of the parental bond - I am certainly not suggesting that parents shouldnt value their babies. Of course they should. Im sure that special bond is immensely rewarding, and perhaps even crucial to human flourishing and the well-lived life (for some people anyway). But that is all quite independent of whether those little critters we adore so much actually have any instrinsic moral ...
One of the few doctors who still performs late-term abortions in the United States, George Tiller has been picketed, bombed and shot in the arms.
The journalist who wrote the article, Deborah Davies, gives the impression that she is very much in favour of a womans right to choose, but she is clearly unhappy with the number of abortions which are performed after 12-14 weeks gestation... and obviously shocked by what medical staff have told her about the procedures used for such late-term abortions. I cant agree with her description of abortions in the first 12 weeks needing only a simple suction procedure - its all pretty gross when you consider that a human life is at stake - but Im interested to read that more and more people are beginning to question where a foetus is considered to be a baby in the making ...

In fact, I think something very interesting has come out of all this. In the past, Dorries has frequently argued that she is in fact pro-choice, but simply believes that certain changes to the law need to be made to improve the advice given to women and prevent late-term abortion. But her attacks on humanists, who broadly tend to be pro-choice, but will disagree among themselves on many aspects of the debate, suggest to me a determination to discredit the views of anyone who is opposed to the anti-abortion lobby. She might object to being nominated for our Bad Faith Award, but by using it as a reason to launch into two diatribes against humanists in general, she is displaying contempt for a large section of society within which, if she took the time to do some research, she would find a wide range of nuanced views on the abortion debate ...

Judith Jarvis Thompson has concluded in a book titled A Defense of Abortion that abortion due to rape is not wrong because it was an incident that was not planned and the sense of a child growing in the womb due to rape was not invited so therefore the abortion would be permissible. On several occasions Judith Jarvis Thompsons position was that we could accede permission to person A, having right over person Bs body and life even though person B did not permit it. She implied that it would be a kind and good thing to do. Her stance allows that if we were to do so it would be permissible to perform abortions due to rape cases. What Judith Jarvis Thompson has taken for granted here in the case of rape is that comparing scenarios such as acorns that soon are to become trees are not trees as oppose to a fetus not being a person until it is born and a society of music lovers kidnapping a person so that a violinist can live due to a blood transfusion from the kidnapped victims body even though ...

I like anything from the 80s except big hair: been there, done that, and over it. I enjoy talking; loud and lots. I do not like to stay still so I really enjoy being part of the classroom, meeting, or workshop. I will help others in any way I can. I respect those who work hard at giving to others instead of getting for themselves and do their job. I am an advocate for those who cannot and do not always advocate for themselves. My soap box is peer and natural support for everybody; dont do for someone something they can do for themselves. My job is all about teacher support and helping teachers to be the best they can be. After all teacher success=student success. I believe that ALL students can learn; we just need to teach in the way that they learn. My motto in in life is Lifes journey is not to arrive at the pearly gates safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide through the gates sideways, totally worn out, shouting Oh yeah, what a ride!. ...

In the acute infection of N. caninum, BALB/c-background IFN-γ-deficient mice that were sensitive to the N. caninum infection showed high levels of IL-10 production, whereas significant levels of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and interleukin-4 (IL-4) production were observed in resistant wild type mice. BALB/c mice vaccinated with recombinant vaccinia virus expressing N. caninum surface protein NcSRS2 resisted parasite spread throughout the body, low levels of IFN-γ ...
347-286-7277. ALBUQUERQUE - Abortion Free New Mexico and Priests for Life have released a new video taken from an undercover phone call placed to Southwestern Womens Options late-term abortion facility that clearly explains how some second and third trimester abortions are performed in New Mexico.. A healthy woman posing as 25 weeks pregnant is given an overview by an abortion worker detailing how the 3-4 day labor and delivery procedure will take place. Late-term abortion is a grueling process that begins every Tuesday with the killing of a baby by a lethal injection of the medication digoxin and culminates at the end of the week when labor is induced and the mother delivers a stillborn child. Pre-born babies can survive outside the womb at 25 weeks, and sometimes earlier in pregnancy.. In a recent rare interview, Curtis Boyd, owner of Southwestern Womens Options claims that he provides abortions to women who are dying if they do not get the abortion, women who have severe congenital ...

Vertical transmission from an infected cow to its fetus accounts for the vast majority of new Neospora caninum infections in cattle. A vaccine composed of a chimeric antigen named recNcMIC3-1-R, based on predicted immunogenic domains of the two microneme proteins NcMIC1 and NcMIC3, the rhoptry protein NcROP2, and emulsified in saponin adjuvants, significantly reduced the cerebral infection in non-pregnant BALB/c mice. Protection was associated with a mixed Th1/Th2-type cytokine response. However, the same vaccine formulation elicited a Th2-type immune response in pregnant mice and did not prevent vertical transmission or disease, neither in dams nor in offspring mice. In this study, an alternative vaccine formulation containing recNcMIC3-1-R emulsified in Freunds incomplete adjuvant, a stimulator of the cellular immunity, was investigated. No protection against vertical transmission and cerebral infection in the pregnant mice and a very limited protective effect in the non-pregnant mice were observed.

Study participants were asked if abortion should be generally available, allowed, but more limited, illegal, with few exceptions or never permitted. As expected, Republicans were more conservative than Democrats.. Nevertheless, 10 percent of liberal Democrats chose the most anti-abortion option and 13 percent said abortion should be illegal, except in cases of rape, incest or to save a mothers life. Then, 14 percent said abortion rights should be restricted with new laws, which … might include a partial-birth abortion ban, parental-notification laws, mandatory waiting periods and even a ban on late-term abortions. …. Meanwhile, 12 percent of moderate and conservative Democrats backed a complete abortion ban, while another 39 percent said abortion should be illegal, with few exceptions. … Another 20 percent backed legalized abortion, with more restrictions. Histopathology is the most useful tool for diagnosis of a number of diseases, especially cancer. To be effective, histopathology requires that tissues be fixed prior to processing. Formalin is currently the most common histologic fixative, offering many advantages: it is cheap, readily available, and pathologists are routinely trained to examine tissues fixed in formalin. However, formalin fixation substantially degrades tissue DNA, hindering subsequent use in diagnostics and research. We therefore evaluated three alternative fixatives, TissueTek® Xpress® Molecular Fixative, modified methacarn, and PAXgene®, all of which have been proposed as formalin alternatives, to determine their suitability for routine use in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory. This was accomplished by examining the histomorphology of sections produced from fixed tissues as well as the ability to amplify fragments from extracted DNA. Tissues were sampled from two dogs and four cats, fixed for 24-48 h, and processed routinely.

Ralph, you answered my questions with questions, but Ill answer yours. I am generally against abortion, but I would not like to see Roe v Wade overturned because if a woman wants to terminate a pregnancy, shell find a way to do it - legal or not. Wed wind up with a lot of septic abortions and dead women - especially poor women who couldnt afford a doctor to do a safe, illegal abortion. BUT...I think late-term abortions are criminal - unless the mothers life is in danger. Once the fetus can feel pain and react to its environment, it should not be aborted. Its not just a mass of cells at this point. And yes, I know the difference between a zygote, an embryo, and a fetus. They do teach stuff like that in biology classes in the South, believe it or not ...
An unplanned pregnancy can be the result of many different situations and circumstances (e.g., spontaneous sexual encounters, a lack of birth control, failed birth control, sexual assault, etc.). The idea that an abortion will affect your future fertility and pregnancy(ies) is a myth. According to the Womens Health Options, choosing to have an abortion now will not decrease your chances of pregnancy in the future.. There are a number of services available, as outlined by the Womens Health Options, that can help terminate a pregnancy (e.g., medication and surgical). The appropriate service depends on many factors, including how far along you are in your pregnancy. Important note: Late-term abortions are not generally recommended or approved. The latest you can receive an abortion is under 20 weeks (140 days pregnant).. Authorities say two out-of-state doctors who traveled to Maryland to perform late-term abortions have been arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder, an unusual use of a law that allows for murder charges in the death of a viable fetus.. …. A grand jury indicted the two doctors after a 16-month investigation, police said.. The investigation began in August 2010 after what authorities say was a botched procedure at Brighams clinic in Elkton, located near the border of Maryland and Delaware. An 18-year-old woman who was 21 weeks pregnant had her uterus ruptured and her bowel injured, and rather than call 911, Brigham and Riley drove her to a nearby hospital, where both were uncooperative and Brigham refused to give his name, according to documents filed in a previous investigation by medical regulators.. OR found that instead of the 31 expected emergencies that required ambulance transport, the St. Louis Fire Department provided Operation Rescue with a list of 58 medical emergencies, categorized by type of problem and priority level that took place at the Planned Parenthood abortion facility between January 1, 2009, and April 16, 2016.. Included in the calls were two for abdominal pain, one for allergic reaction, six for fainting, four fall incidents, 23 instances of hemorrhaging, four cases of interfacility emergency, three psychiatric or suicidal cases, three seizures and one stroke, among others.. OR said ambulances were also called for three incidents of serious bleeding, including one during the third trimester of pregnancy, indicating that late-term abortions are being done at the St. Louis Planned Parenthood.. It is possible that not all of the incidents were ...
Womens reproductive rights are under attack as never before. Laws are being passed in state after state that result in abortion clinics being shuttered, doctors being forced to stop practicing, millions of women losing access to necessary health care services and, in an ironic twist, an increase in late-term abortion. Add to that the relentless…

Recent work has highlighted and enumerated the economic annual losses due to Neospora caninum abortions worldwide, which should provide strong motivation for the control of bovine neosporosis. However, with the recent withdrawal from sale of the only commercially available vaccine, control options for N. caninum have become more restricted. While researchers continue to work on developing alternative efficacious vaccines, what are the control options presently available for the cattle industries? At the practical level, recommendations for Test-and-cull, or not breeding from seropositive dams stand diametrically opposed to alternative options put forward that suggest a primary producer is better advised to keep those cows in the herd that are already seropositive, i.e. assumed to be chronically infected, and indeed those that have already aborted once. Treatment with a coccidiostat has been recommended as the only economically viable option, yet no such treatment has gained official, ...
Over in the Senate, the Health and Human Resources Committee was busy. No, the senators werent doing anything to help the actual people of their state. But they totally have the backs of the fetuses. Yeah, the committee said it was time for West Virginia to outlaw abortions after 20 weeks, not the 24 weeks that some senators wanted. This was the kinder, gentler version of the House bill. The House made it a felony for doctors who perform abortions after 20 weeks. The Senate said it should just be a misdemeanor. The House banned all late-term abortions except for cases where carrying a pregnancy to term would cause permanent damage or death to the woman. The Senate added that it would be cool to abort if the fetus wasnt viable. See? Compassion. A woman isnt forced to carry around a fetus thats sure to die quickly and horribly ...
There has been a steady decline in abortions since 1980.. • Each year, about 1.7% of all women aged 15-44 have an abortion. • Of the women obtaining abortions in any given year, about half of them have had at least one previous abortion.. • By age 45, one third of American women will have had at least one abortion, although this figure is now in dispute and may be much lower.. • Some 1.06 million abortions were performed in 2011, down from 1.21 million abortions in 2008, a decline of 13%.. • The U.S. abortion rate in 2011 was 13.9 abortions per 1,000, down from 19.4 per 1,000 in 2008.. • 88.7% of all abortions take place by the twelfth week of pregnancy.. • 12% of abortions in the U.S. occurred in teenagers. ...
Christins baby was given a fatal shot of digoxin to the heart, and Christins cervix was then filled with laminaria. She and her family were then sent to a hotel about a mile away. The next morning, Christin delivered her dead child in her familys van on the way to the abortion clinic. A D&C procedure was performed, and a tear on her uterus was found and sutured. Carhart then administered the drug RU-486, which is not approved for use in late-term abortions. But Carhart apparently wanted an insurance policy. Christin and her family were then sent back to their hotel again.. Within 24 hours, Christins condition began to deteriorate. Sepsis was sweeping through her body, but she was diagnosed with dehydration and simply given fluids. The staff made no documentation of this, and Christin and her family were sent away again.. That evening, Christin began vomiting, fainting, and bleeding. Sometime between midnight and 4am, Cathy Reavis, an unlicensed nurse, showed up at the hotel to assist the ...
So, why do these babies die? The Guttmacher Institute has looked at the reasons for late-term abortion, and the reasons are chilling. First, the top-line finding is clear: [D]ata suggest that most women seeking later terminations are not doing so for reasons of fetal anomaly or life endangerment. Instead, there were five general profiles of women who sought later abortions, describing 80% of the sample. These women were raising children alone, were depressed or using illicit substances, were in conflict with a male partner or experiencing domestic violence, had trouble deciding and then had access problems, or were young and nulliparous [had never given birth ...

You might say the inverse about some Republicans: Protect newborns but not kids at the border.. I thought of that when watching President Trumps state of the union speech last night. He announced that he would ask Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mothers womb. Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life.. The sea of white dresses that female lawmakers wore in symbolic opposition to Trump and in recognition of suffragette, for the most part sat in stunned silence as the rest of the chamber rose in loud applause. The seated obviously didnt want to offend their maximalist pro-choice campaign benefactors, such as Planned Parenthood. That they wouldnt cheer legislation that would protect innocent life moments before birth revealed the kind of a cruel streak that they insist infects Republicans.. But some Republicans have their own cruel streak as demonstrated by their jarring insensitivity about the ...

Veterinary Parasitology. 169:304-311. Interpretive Summary: Neospora caninum is a single celled parasite. It causes abortion in cattle worldwide. Pathogenesos of N. caninum induced abortion is not fully understood. In the present study scientists report induction of abortion in cows experimentally inoculated with N. caninum.. The results will be of interest to biologists, parasitologists, and veterinarians. Technical Abstract: Neospora caninum is a major cause of abortion in cattle, but the reasons why some animals abort and not others remain unclear. Most of the N. caninum experimental primary infections in cattle late in gestation, after 120 days of pregnancy, results in birth of full-term congenitally infected fetuses. In the present study, the distribution of parasites and pathogenesis of infection in both ...
BATH, Gareth F.; LEASK, Rhoda; PETTEY, Kenneth P. e COETZEE, Debra J.. Abortions in sheep associated with Arcobacter skirrowii infection. J. S. Afr. Vet. Assoc. [online]. 2013, vol.84, n.1, pp.1-4. ISSN 2224-9435.. The history, circumstances, clinical signs, post mortem lesions, morbidity, mortality and laboratory findings are described in an abortion storm in sheep that occurred in Mpumalanga, South Africa, associated with infection with Arcobacter skirrowii. Altogether, about 200 Suffolk Down ewes lost 60 lambs in late pregnancy or at term. Although only three foetuses were submitted for investigation, two had signs consistent with a diagnosis of A. skirrowii infection and the organism was isolated from the placentas of both specimens. No abortions had occurred in previous years, or have subsequently. There were no animal introductions prior to the outbreak that could have indicated a source of infection. One stillborn lamb submitted subsequently had lesions consistent with dystocia, and the ...
Campylobacteriosis in Sheep Campylobacteriosis is a disease in sheep that causes bacterial abortion storms and still births. In the United Kingdom, campylobacteriosis ranks third after enzootic abortion and toxoplasmosis as a cause of abortion and affects about 5% of all abortions.

As client interactions with veterinary diagnostic laboratories have evolved, so have client expectations: faster results, enhanced accessibility to cases, and more seamless data transfer from the laboratory database; all of these factors have encouraged the evolution of diagnostic laboratory systems. This evolution started with 24-h access to laboratory results via the web, yet data quality remained at the mercy of the person filling out the form. If bad (incomplete) information was flowing in, then the data coming out was equally bad (incomplete or inconsistent). By designing a web-based system integrated into our existing reporting platform, the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (ISU-VDL) set out to improve the quality of submission data by including the premises identification number (PIN) and obtaining consistent location data, all while presenting to the client an easy-to-use interface. Efforts continued by incentivizing the use of this tool and client submission practices. As
If life begins at conception, then inhibiting implantation is comparable to abortion. Incomplete information is being spread out to the public and professionals. We need to be honest to our Christian commuinity whom we love. We need to be aware of these abortifacient effects to make informed decisions, so we do not intentionally or unintentionally sin against God. Some claim there is no abortifacient proof. We, among others, believe the evidence is clear. Until it is proved OCs are non-abortifacient, we strongly recommend abstaining from their use. At a minimum, our people need to be informed. Christian leaders bear the responsibility to inform them. This is our biblical and moral injunction. ...
Neosporosis was firstly described in dogs with nervous system alterations in Norway and McAllister et al. (1998) confirmed the dog as a definitive host. Canine neosporosis is a disease that can cause severe clinical manifestations, mainly of neuromuscular origin. Despite this, there is a concern from an epidemiologic perspective that dogs can be definitive hosts.. The most severe signs of neosporosis in dogs occur in congenitally infected puppies, with ascending paralysis of the limbs and rigid hyperextension, which can lead to progressive paralysis and death. Difficulty to swallow, accompanied by paralysis of jaw, muscular stiffness, and atrophy and cardiac failure can also be observed. Moreover, the disease can be shown in the generalized form. Severe dermatitis and peritonitis caused by N. caninum were already reported as well.. Despite puppies being more commonly affected, adult and/or old dogs can also present severe neosporosis, including deaths. Reproductive disorders, like abortion and ...

The Universitys School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, based at the Roseworthy Campus, has received $110,000 in funding from Pfizer Animal Health Australia to conduct a pilot study, which is the first of its kind for the nation.. Scientists in the new Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Roseworthy will research the prevalence of resistance to all major classes of antibiotic for two key groups of pathogens, Escherichia coli and staphylococci, in livestock animals and pets.. Australia currently has no coordinated national program monitoring antibiotic resistance in livestock or companion animal pathogens, says the Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Dr Darren Trott.. Resistance in these key pathogens is a major driver throughout the world of the use of antimicrobial drugs for livestock and companion animals.. Dr Trott says Australia has some of the worlds most conservative restrictions regarding the use of antimicrobial drugs in livestock. Australian producers do not use ...
From the neo- (Latin, new) + spora (Greek, seed) and canis (Latin, dog), Neospora caninum (Figure) is a sporozoan parasite that was first described in 1984. It is a major pathogen of cattle and dogs but can also infect horses, goats, sheep, and deer. Antibodies to N. caninum have been found in humans, predominantly in those with HIV infection, although the role of this parasite in causing or exacerbating illness is unclear.. ...
The first case of bovine chlamydial abortion was reported in canton Graubunden, Switzerland. In this region, Chlamydophila (Cp.) abortus is endemic in small ruminants. So the incidence of chlamydia-related abortions in cattle from this region was evaluated in this brandnew study - and a potential zoonotic risk was detected.
This is the fabled life of the mother abortion excuse that were sure to hear ad nauseum anytime any state attempts to pass even the most meager regulations on the abortion industry. According to pro-abortion radicals, even the Texas law requiring humane treatment of dead babies might somehow result in the deaths of countless women. In Abortion World, abortion saves more lives than it takes. Pregnancy is more fatal than pancreatic cancer and the only thing preventing millions of women from dying from it is abortion. Pregnancy is a disease and abortion is the cure, they believe.. Heres how one reader put it to me through email last night:. Matt, many women would be DEAD without abortion. Is that what you want? I thought youre pro-life???? What if a woman needs to get an abortion to save her life. Are YOU going to tell her she has to DIE for the sake of a fetus? Is the GOVERNMENT going to tell her that? Youre not pro-life…. youre pro-birth. You dont give a sh*t about the women who ...
Abortion refers to stoppage of pregnancy within 28 weeks and with the weight of the fetus less than 1000g. Abortion occurring within 12 weeks after pregnancy is called early abortion, while abortion occurring from 12 weeks to 28 weeks is known as late abortion. Abortion may be either natural or artificial. The incidence of abortion is 10%-18%, most of which is early abortion.
Examination of the serum from an aborting cow is only indicative of exposure to N. caninum and histologic examination of the fetus is necessary for a definitive diagnosis of neosporosis. The brain, heart, liver, placenta, and body fluids or blood serum are the best specimens for diagnosis and diagnostic rates are higher if multiple tissues are examined. Although lesions of neosporosis are found in several organs, fetal brain is the most consistently affected organ. Because most aborted fetuses are likely to be autolyzed, even semi-liquid brain tissue should be fixed in 10% buffered neutral formalin for histologic examination of hematoxylin and eosin (HE) stained sections. Immunohistochemistry is necessary because there are generally only a few N. caninum present in autolyzed tissues and these are often not visible in H and E stained sections. The most characteristic lesion of neosporosis is focal encephalitis characterized by necrosis and nonsuppurative inflammation (Barr et al., 1991). ...
I now, however, think that the pro-life view of abortion -- that it is murder from the very moment at which a sperm cell joins with an egg cell to form a zygote -- puts very little stock in fetal sentience, except perhaps as a vehicle for reaching the wider audience of people who reject the view that killing a zygote is murder but do feel that later, pain-capable abortions raise serious and potentially dispositive moral questions. This would help explain, for example, their arguments offered for the PBABA saying that an intact dilation and evacuation abortion is too much like infanticide to countenance. For someone who adheres to a pro-life view of abortion, terminating the life of an eight-cell, undifferentiated embryo is just as much like infanticide, for moral purposes, as aborting a late-term fetus through an intact delivery followed by the crushing of the fetuss skull. The whole argument that a particular kind of abortion is too much like infanticide assumes as its premise the idea ...
Abortion is the termination and removal of a fetus or an embryo before it can live on its own. Abortions are normally done when one is not ready for the baby or the pregnancy was not planned for. Adult abortion has been legalized in the US and therefore it has reduced death rates among mothers and women who were at risk of procuring an abortion. This is because most women would go through backdoor means to have the pregnancy terminated. Most doctors in this field were less skilled and would use the wrong methods to terminate the pregnancy. This would lead to increased maternal deaths.. Abortion after the first trimester. Having an abortion after the first trimester, that is, after the first three months of the pregnancy is very risky. This is because the fetus is fully formed and has started getting differentiated body parts. An abortion at this time is a great health risk to both the mother and the fetus. This is because some bone fragments can be left in the uterus which can cause decay to the ...
