The simple answer is no - search engine submission isnt necessary. The majority of search engines nowadays (most notably Google) crawl and index pages by following links. Using that logic, a single inbound link from any already-indexed page will identify your page to the engine. Subsequently, if that page links to other pages within your site, they will also be indexed… and so on.. For this reason, inbound linking is very important. In fact, acquiring back-links may be the most important of SEO. In theory though, a website owner shouldnt have to scout or hunt for links. If the presented content is of interest, useful, and/or important, there is a natural tendency among web users to link to information. This is the basis for the Google PageRank algorithm.. With all due respect, submitting your site to the search engines cant hurt. Plus, it only entails about 5 minutes of added work assuming you only submit to the big guys. And once is enough… you dont need to submit your site more ...

Background: There is a perception that the prevalence of anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) use is increasing in the UK, with consequent individual and public health risks. Nevertheless, there is a lack of real-time surveillance data to support the development of effective policy. This paper explores the potential of Google Trends to complement existing surveillance methods by analysing user generated search term data. Methods: The Google Trends web tool was used to identify patterns of UK online interest in 15 AAS from January 2011 to December 2015, with 10 ultimately suitable for further analysis. Time series analysis was applied to the data. Results: 10 steroids were ranked from most to least popular. All compounds had peaks in interest between April to July, potentially indicating a consumer driven desire to attain a desired physique in time for summer. Oral steroids were among the most searched for drugs which may have relevance for current service provision to steroid users. Conclusion: ...

Accordingly, prediction of item popularity may be performed by, for example, one or more network-based systems (e.g., commerce systems, publication systems, listing systems, media archival systems, image sharing systems, visual search engines, shopping search engines, or any suitable combination thereof), and in some particular examples, by one or more popularity prediction machines included in one or more of such network-based systems. If you have been to Bing recently you may have noticed the new minimal design of the search engine when compared to before. This move was apparently only the first step in the redesign of the Bing search engine.. The Bing team has just announced that it will be rolling out the second part of the planned redesign of the search engine in the coming days for users from the United States.. Users from other countries can switch to the U.S. engine on Bing to use the features. It is not clear if and when this redesign will launch for localized versions of Bing as well. On a side note: If you ask me, Bings U.S. focused policy is one of the things that is keeping the search engine from gaining any sort of visible traction in other countries, and especially in countries where English is not the native language.. Update: Note that the article provides information about Bings redesign efforts in 2012. The current version of Bing has a two column design that displays search results and important ...
Within the context of a European network dedicated to the study of sarcoma the relevant literature on sarcoma risk factors was collected by searching PubMed and Google Scholar, the two information storage and retrieval databases which can be accessed without charge. The present study aims to appraise the relative proficiency of PubMed and Google Scholar. Unlike PubMed, Google Scholar does not allow a choice between Human and Animal studies, nor between Classical and other types of studies. As a result, searches with Google Scholar produced high numbers of citations that have to be filtered. Google Scholar resulted in a higher sensitivity (proportion of relevant articles, meeting the search criteria), while PubMed in a higher specificity (proportion of lower quality articles not meeting the criteria, that are not retrieved). Concordance between Google Scholar and PubMed was as low as 8%. This study focused just on one topic. Although further studies are warranted, PM and GS appear to be
