Background: Colposcopy is an invasive medical procedure, which involves pain and discomfort. Auriculotherapy is a medical technique that can facilitate the reduction of pain. Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the impacts of auriculotherapy with electrical stimulation and Vaccaria seeds on colposcopy pain. Method: This controlled randomized, clinical trial was conducted on 93 females undergoing colposcopy in Ghaem Hospital, Mashhad, Iran, in 2017. The study population was selected through convenience sampling technique, and then randomly assigned into three groups, namely transcutaneous auricular stimulation (TAS), Vaccaria seeds, and placebo. The TAS group was subjected to electrical stimulation at four auricular acupuncture points 40 min before colposcopy, using a Pointer Excel stimulator (2 Hz). In the Vaccaria seed group, the seeds were fixed on the same acupoints three days prior to colposcopy. The participants were asked to press each point for 1 min, three times a day. The ...

In other parts of the world, cauterization (burning) of the ear to treat sciatic pain was performed in ancient Greek medicine, and was also part of the Islamic medical canon.. The modern systems of auriculotherapy originated in the late 1950s in Europe, which has a much longer tradition of acupuncture than we do in the U.S., and from there spread back to China. The story goes that a French doctor, Paul Nogier, noticed cauterization scars on the ears of patients whose sciatic pain had been cured; he traced the scars to a lay practitioner in Marseille, Mrs. Barrin, who had learned to treat sciatic pain using the technique from her father, who had himself learned it from a Chinese practitioner. She applied a hot needle to a specific area of the external ear (later determined by Nogier to correspond to the lumbar/sacral junction), and people reported that their sciatic pain disappeared quickly.. Nogier and other practitioners in France and Europe developed a complete system of anatomical ...

Permanent auriculotherapy relies on the principles of acupuncture. But as the name implies, it is permanent - meaning the needles stay in. For the sake of accuracy, it might be better to use the term micro-implant rather than needle.. These implants are made of titanium and are applied to the patients auricular pavilion. The auricle is the part of the ear thats outside your head, the part thats visible.. In other words, the implants go in the cartilage of the patients ear. Thats why another name for this technique is auricular acupuncture. Or, to use the simplest terms possible, it is a form of ear acupuncture.. This treatment is effective because the auricular pavilion is connected to the central nervous system through numerous nerve endings. By applying the micro-implants to specific spots, it is possible to stimulate these signals.. As mentioned, Parkinsons disease prevents the patients body from producing enough dopamine. However, auriculotherapy creates stimuli which can help ...
Stop smoking, through stimulating specific points in the ear causing the brain to release neurotransmitters (such as endorphins and dopamine) that help to break the addiction cycle. Theralase combines treatment with behavioural modification addiction counseling and nutritional guidance to create programs with a very high rate of success.. Using the principals of ear acupuncture (auriculotherapy), targets specific ear points to induce the brain chemistry to release neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and endorphins (the pleasure chemicals of the brain) to travel to different sections of the brain, which help to break the addiction cycle. The nucleus accumbens mediates the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which underlies pleasure and relaxation. But the dopamine itself is released from the ventral tegmental area (VTA), another contender for the title of pleasure center. The VTA releases dopamine to the nucleus accumbens, the prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and septum, all of ...

flickr size=medium float=right]5481294323[/flickr]. Auriculotherapy is the stimulation of the auricle of the external ear to diagnose and treat health conditions in other parts of the body. The auricle could be compared to an inverted fetus, with the head represented on the lower ear lobe, the feet at the top of the external ear, and the rest of the body in-between.. Modern applications of this method are based on the work of Dr. Paul Nogier from France who practiced in the 1950s. In recognition of Nogiers discoveries and research on the auricle, the Chinese Government honored him by awarding him a formal title Father of Modern Auricular Therapy.. Dr. Michael Smith is recognized internationally as the psychiatrist who pioneered the use of these procedures in the field of chemical dependency. He developed an accepted auricular therapy protocol at Lincoln Hospital, New York. In 1987, the program was redesigned to focus on court-related referrals. Based on the Lincoln Hospital model, Dr. ...
What is the History of Auriculotherapy?. The earliest written records of ear acupuncture date back to the Yellow Emperors Classic of Internal Medicine, a compilation of acupuncture procedures that were in practice in 500 BC. Within this extensive text that covers a variety of acupuncture treatments, there is mention of specific acupuncture points on the external ear for the relief of certain medical disorders. However, the manner in which auricular acupuncture is practiced today in China is actually based upon more recent discoveries that occurred in France in the 1950s. The Traditional Oriental Medicine practiced in ancient China included just a scattered array of acupoints on the auricle for just a few health problems, whereas the current practice of auricular acupuncture shows a more complete organization of ear reflex points that can be used to relieve many health problems. In the West, the earliest references to ear treatments were referred to in medical records from ancient Egypt, ...
In the event that you visit a Asian medicine practitioner, youll learn an entirely various form of diagnostics. As well as seeing a patients experience, these holistic wellness practitioners perform heart analysis (palpation of the radial artery pulse), human anatomy palpation, and other distinctive non-invasive diagnostic measures.. When a Asian medication practitioner has developed his findings, and has arrived at a conclusive therapy technique, some of many holistic drugs he might present contain Asian natural medicine, acupuncture, holistic nourishment assistance, moxibustion, cupping, Tuina (Chinese medical massage), Qigong, or Tai Chi, among others. Some specialized practitioners may possibly administer auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture) as a wellness treatment.. Registered Asian medicine practitioners today have purchased a lot of knowledge and training. While there are numerous acupuncture and Oriental medicine colleges in North America and abroad, no two curriculums are the same. ...

Afterwards, you will see 4 indicators about the stress level of the speaker. The most prominent one is a needle that moves up and down and registers the stress level of the speaker. The second is a meter which measures the stress level from 0 to 100. There is also a green light that changes to red when stress levels are above normal and finally, on top of the display there is a message which indicates the stress level of the speaker (high, normal).. ...

Auricular Therapy (Lat. Auricula - "ear" or "ear auricle" + Greek Therapia - treatment) is a method of manipulation with the BAPs of the ear auricle for treatment and health restoration purposes. Auricular Therapy technique, presented in this module, is based on the European scheme of BAPs location. This system originates from the works of Paul Nogier, his first study was published in 1957. The study about the correlation between ear points and health condition was triggered by the traditional way of the treatment of back pains by the method of moxibustion of the ear auricle. Same type of relieving the pain Nogier met on Corsica. After the studies and observation of the auricle condition, he created a map of 30 zones, which was lately corrected.
