In the present effort, acoustic emission was applied during potentiodynamic cyclic polarization testing on as received, anodized and carbon epoxy coated aluminum substrates in order to correlate corrosion phenomena, like oxide layer development and localized corrosion, with characteristic acoustic emission signal descriptors.
