However, by alternating the electric field direction one is able to separate DNA molecules up to several million base-pairs in length.

The degree of relatedness or homology between the sequences is predicted computationally or statistically based on weights assigned to the elements aligned between the sequences. A bacteriostatic antibiotic macrolide produced by Streptomyces erythreus. Erythromycin A is considered its major active component.
