Uricosuric Agents: Gout suppressants that act directly on the renal tubule to increase the excretion of uric acid, thus reducing its concentrations in plasma.Benzbromarone: Uricosuric that acts by increasing uric acid clearance. It is used in the treatment of gout.Sulfinpyrazone: A uricosuric drug that is used to reduce the serum urate levels in gout therapy. It lacks anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and diuretic properties.Probenecid: The prototypical uricosuric agent. It inhibits the renal excretion of organic anions and reduces tubular reabsorption of urate. Probenecid has also been used to treat patients with renal impairment, and, because it reduces the renal tubular excretion of other drugs, has been used as an adjunct to antibacterial therapy.Uric Acid: An oxidation product, via XANTHINE OXIDASE, of oxypurines such as XANTHINE and HYPOXANTHINE. It is the final oxidation product of purine catabolism in humans and primates, whereas in most other mammals URATE OXIDASE further oxidizes it to ALLANTOIN.Ticrynafen: A novel diuretic with uricosuric action. It has been proposed as an antihypertensive agent.Iodopyracet: An ionic monomeric contrast medium that was formerly used for a variety of diagnostic procedures. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p706)Chlorothiazide: A thiazide diuretic with actions and uses similar to those of HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p812)Aminohippuric Acids: A group of glycine amides of aminobenzoic acids.PhenoxyacetatesOxonic Acid: Antagonist of urate oxidase.Diuretics: Agents that promote the excretion of urine through their effects on kidney function.Urate Oxidase: An enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of urate and unidentified products. It is a copper protein. The initial products decompose to form allantoin. EC 184.108.40.206.Glycolates: Derivatives of ACETIC ACID which contain an hydroxy group attached to the methyl carbon.Apazone: An anti-inflammatory agent used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. It also has uricosuric properties and has been used to treat gout.Pyrazinamide: A pyrazine that is used therapeutically as an antitubercular agent.Organomercury Compounds: Organic compounds which contain mercury as an integral part of the molecule.
