Can these lengthy times in between making him more susceptible to uti's ?

My dad has bladder cancer,type 2 diabetes ( controled) and is 95 yrs. old. After the cystscopy, he waits

longer than normal, the nurse tells him they can not get the drug, "bIg“.
The urinary tract infections then com at 6 weeks. This goes on, three different
Times. Is this normal? Thank You,
