Peri-implantitis is an infectious disease cause by inflammation around the implant area....in the soft tissue area. Technically it is caused by spirochetes and gram-negative anaerobes. It can also result in severe bone loss around the area where the implant was placed. It is important to see an emergency dentist immediately. They may deal with it themselves.
