Emergency dentist cases which need to be seen straight away are as follows:

An avaulsed tooth (knocked out) - get to the dentist within one hour it may be saved - keep it in milk or saliva.

A chipped or broken tooth. - it will need bonding - take the broken piece with you...
A cracked tooth - go to the dentist within a couple of days - before it breaks or becomes infected.

Severe toothache (swelling) - go to the dentist asap - root canal infections are severe.

If your tooth is knocked out or chipped then see an emergency dentist straight away. Also if you have a dental abcess or swelling then you may want to see an emergency dentist straight away.  There is severe risk of further infection if you fail to see a dentist within the correct time scale.
