A fever is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong.  It is the antibodies multiplying to fight the infection or virus.  Dr. Andrew Scott is a Chiropractor in Vaughan, Ontario Canada who recommends that taking medication to lower a fever may not help.  A fever encourages one to rest, which  is the best way to fight sickness. Medication may make one feel better, but that may cause one to resume activity instead of resting.

Fever is a condition wherein your body temperature rises above the normal temperature (98.6°F). It is not a cause of concern until your body temperature reaches 101°F. In infants and children, even a slight increase in the body temperature must be looked into with utmost attention. Fevers generally go away in a few days but can cause extreme fatigue and body aches.

Shivering, body ache, sweating, dehydration, general weakness and loss of appetite are some of the signs of fever. Most fevers can be treated at home with some simple remedies. However, if your condition does not improve in 3-4 days or the temperature crosses 103°F, you must consult a doctor. It could be a sign of some serious infection in your body.
