What does this MRI report mean "Encephalomalacia and gliosis noted in left ventricle representing old infarct"

Question

This MRI report belongs to my son, who is 1 year old. We recently observed that he is not using his left side as normally a child would do. He does all his acts with his right hand." We consulted Neurophysician and then got this MRI.

 

We got the report from online portal of the Hospital today but have appointment of the Neuro in 4 days. I searched on the internet on this condition and it has frightened me. Can anyone explain

1) What exactly does this statement means in simple plain English???

2) Why did it happen?? My son has never had any head injury till now!

3) What is treatment of this issue?

4) What affects will it make on my son's life?
